Chamber News from the President

Dear Members:

"Social Media ~ Bridging the Gap Between Business and Personal"  will be the topic of this month's luncheon. These days everyone gets Googled from time to time. The question is, "What do you want people to find when they Google you?" The personal and professional line has blurred and many professionals are confused about online transparency. In this interactive session, we will discuss:

1)  What and with whom to share

2)  Purpose of engaging online

3)  How to be authentically you

4)  Managing multiple personalities

5)  Cost of privacy

Join us on Thursday, April 12 at 11:30 AM at the Bloomingdale Golf Club as Angel Oakley, Founder of Unicatis Marketing, discusses this timely topic.

Members of the Carol Stream Chamber will join us for on Open House at 4:30 PM on April 10 at the Cadence Health Rehabilitation Center in Bloomingdale. Enjoy refreshments, networking and giveaways for five $50 restaurant gift cards.

Additional events in April include Chamber Unplugged at ANYWAY's American Pub & Grill on April 19, BAWIB Girl Power Happy Hour at Jameson's Charhouse on April 5 and BAWIB Bring a Friend Luncheon on April 24 at Brunch Cafe.

Chamber 30th Anniversary
The Chamber is excited to be celebrating our 30th anniversary this year.   Every month, we will feature an article from one of our long standing members about the history of the Chamber.

This month, we share the comments from Kristen Jakubowski of Adventist GlenOaks Hospital.

"Adventist GlenOaks Hospital is honored to be a long-time member of the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce.  During our tenure with the Chamber, we have created so many lasting and special memories that there are too many to cite here.  We are so grateful to be a member of an organization with a mission of creating an environment that promotes the success of local businesses by developing programs that connect businesses with the community.  This mirrors many of the facets of our organization's mission of "Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ" to all by connecting the community to high quality, compassionate care.  We are so pleased to be a part of the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce and we congratulate the Chamber for 30 years of excellence.  We look forward to serving our community together for another 30 years and beyond!"

Please share your stories of the Chamber with us and
join us for our anniversary celebrations throughout the year.

March Educational Seminar~Difficult Conversations

It was a full house on March 27 for the education seminar, "Difficult Conversations: From a Pounding Heart to an Open Mind" with Jeanne Malnati. Jeanne shared strategies for dealing with conversations that if handled poorly, can affect the morale of a company, but if handled correctly, can improve the culture of a company and promote employee satisfaction.

If you were unable to attend the seminar but are interested in communication strategies, Jeanne is the author of two upcoming books: "Truth-TellingThe Small Book of Interpersonal Communication Tools for Transforming Teams"; and co-authoring with her husband, "It's More Than The Pizza - 10 Secret Ingredients to Creating A Culture that Cares and Communicates Clearly".

Remember that four educational seminars per year are included with your $75 BAWIB membership.
