Mayor Bob Iden will discuss important developments in Bloomingdale. Strider Elass, Economic Analyst at First Trust Advisors, will provide valuable information about the direction of the economy. The second luncheon is the annual West Suburban Multi-Chamber Luncheon and Expo on March 22. This year's featured speaker is Tom Ricketts, owner of the Chicago Cubs. Seating is limited for this luncheon, so please respond as soon as possible. The last day to register is Friday, March 9. WALK-INS CANNOT BE ACCOMMODATED.
In addition, join us for after hour events on March 15 at the new office of Ducat Chiropractic and on April 10 at Cadence Health Rehabilitation Center. Register online for all these events at bloomingdalechamber.com.
Enjoy the official arrival of spring and remember to shop local!

Chamber 30th Anniversary
The Chamber is excited to be celebrating our 30th anniversary this year. Every month, we will feature an article from one of our long standing members about the history of the Chamber.
Ed Levato, Sr., one of the founding members of the Chamber contributed the following information about the start of Chamber golf outings:
"As a fledging organization, money was an acute need and in an effort to raise money, our board decided to host a fun activity. Sometime in the mid-to-late 1980's, we sponsored our first golf outing. No other chamber in the area had done this. In fact, I don't even remember any social or charitable group sponsoring a golf event. It turned out to be a lot of fun and did raise a decent amount of money. Our board took it as a compliment that within 5 years almost all local chambers followed suit and started golf outings as fundraisers. So many clubs and charities now have golf fundraisers that an active member of the community can easily be invited to 10-15 outings per year to raise money for some worthwhile cause or another."
Fred Lonigro, a member since 1989, tells us the most significant event he remembers about the Chamber was the first 50 Men Who Cook event in 2009. He shares:
"The first year the Chamber had the "50 Men Who Cook" event was enjoyable. I loved watching all the culinary talent and judging my favorite foods. It was a fun evening for all."
Please share your stories of the Chamber with us and join us for our anniversary celebrations throughout the year. |

BAWIB March 27 Seminar
Difficult Conversations~From a Pounding Heart to an Open Mind |
Conversations we dread, and often handle poorly, are part of all our lives: in boardrooms and family rooms, across the negotiation table and the dinner table. This seminar, presented by Jeanne Malnati, will teach us how to handle these discussions with more success and less anxiety. Registration and continental breakfast begin at 7:30 AM and the program will start promptly at
8:00 AM. Thank you to Bloomingdale Bank & Trust for hosting us in their second floor boardroom. To register: March 27 BAWIB Seminar |
