Chamber News from the President

Dear Members:

The third annual 50 Men Who Cook community event was a huge success!  Attendees enjoyed great food, fellowship with
neighbors and lively music.  See below for more information and pictures.

Please join us for our Multi-Chamber Progressive Luncheon on Wednesday, October 12 at Glendale Lakes Golf Club. You will have the opportunity to network with members of the Addison, Carol Stream and Glendale Heights Chambers as you sit with a new group of potential customers for each course of the meal.

Bloomingdale's newest restaurant, Smashburger, will host a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, October 4 at 4:30.  They are also offering complimentary meals from 5-8 PM.  If you would like to enjoy the great food, you need to RSVP to Becca at becca@lolaredpr.com with your preferred time and number in your party.

Please also join fellow Chamber members for after hours events at Alden Valley Ridge (October 13) and Bloomingdale Bank and Trust (October 26).  Both events begin at 5:00 PM.

As always, you can register for these and other events on our website at www.bloomingdalechamber.com.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

 Best regards,

50 Men Who Cook gets bigger and better every year.  Thanks again to our sponsors, raffle prize donors, volunteers and our talented cooks.  All of the food was great and it was difficult for the attendees to choose the best chef in each category.  However, the ballots were counted and we are pleased to announce the winners.  Dr. John Butts won in the appetizer category for his Touchdown Tenderloin.  John Vogel's short ribs were the favorite in the Entree category.  Andre Burke's Monsters of the Midway Mushrooms was the favorite side dish.  Stan Poplonski won again this year for his cake balls and Debbie Zempel of Indulge Cheesecake won in our newly created Professional Category for her great turtle cheesecake, carrot cake and peanut butter fudge.  The table decor prize went to Chris LaPorta for the creative display that accompanied his Spicy Chorizo Taco Bites.

Check our website later this week for more pictures from the event.

Student to Business Partnership
The Chamber will again coordinate a Student to Business Partnership between local businesses and students from Lake Park and Glenbard North High Schools.  Please consider hosting a student on November 17 from 8:30 until Noon.  The student will shadow/participate in any or all aspects of a typical business day for you.  We then encourage you to join your student and fellow chamber members for lunch.  If you are interested in hosting a student, please call us at 630-980-9082 by October 21.  Past business participants have found the experience rewarding and some have even hired the students they met through the student to business partnership.
Non-Profit Luncheon
The Bloomingdale Public Library, Boy Scouts, Campanelli YMCA, College of DuPage, DUCAP, NDSEC, Stepping Stones and WDSRA participated in a "mini-expo" at the September Non-Profit General Membership Luncheon host by the Chamber.  After lunch, Wheaton Park District Executive Director Mike Benard gave a captivating demonstration of how every business can reap benefits for their own business when they reach out to partner with other businesses in their community.
