Turnip, available for adoption
Meet Turnip!

I'm a friendly, 2-yr-old neutered black smoke rabbit and, I am litter box trained.

I'm calm and I enjoy being held.

Come meet "Turnip" at the shelter during normal business hours.

Another
happy ending

Fiona and Cleo

Dear foster mom,

Fiona and Cleo enjoyed their first trip to Canada in July. They were very good travelers and enjoyed it immensely.  We went again for 10 days in September and they remembered all their favorite spots from going in July.

They've gotten so big, they aren't kittens anymore, but they are still just as sweet as can be and we are sick in love with them.

Greetings!
Adopt a Rabbit February is Adopt-A-Shelter- Rabbit month, and we have dozens of rabbits here at MCHS waiting for homes. But before jumping on the bandwagon, we'd like to recommend you read some dos and don'ts about bunny care.
Transport vehicles needed
Dog in car
To boost our adoption efforts, MCHS needs donations of transport vehicles:

A transport van -- large-capacity vehicle to transport equipment and/or animals in crates to off-site adoption events. Good body and in good working condition.

A 4WD vehicle -- large-capacity vehicle with 4WD for emergency response in inclement weather, as well as for animal transport year-round. Good body and in good working condition.

If you have such a vehicle to donate, please contact MCHS at mchs@mchumane.org or 240-773-5973. Thank you.
Groundbreaking!

Shelter Groundbreaking

We were very excited to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the county animal shelter on Jan. 28 in Derwood. We are looking forward to the facility's opening. Find out more on the county's website.

In Memoriam

We are saddened at the loss of a valued employee and friend. Long-time animal devotee and MCHS employee Dottie Bronicki passed away on Sunday, Jan. 15.

Dottie joined the MCHS staff in July 1994, and worked in several departments, most recently in Lost & Found. She was a lifelong animal lover, and was particularly devoted to Whippets, which she bred and showed for many years. We will miss Dottie, and will always remember her contributions to MCHS and the welfare of animals in our community.
