"Spay Day USA" Is Feb 23rd
When you adopt a pet from the Montgomery County Humane Society, one of the most important ways you demonstrate you're a responsible pet parent is to spay or neuter your new friend. This safe and simple operation offers many benefits: You play a direct role in saving animals' lives by reducing the number of homeless or unwanted animals in the community. In addition, your new companion benefits from calmer behavior and less risk of certain diseases.
Many shelter dogs and cats are already altered. If you need to make arrangements to have your pet altered, MCHS offers three helpful programs: * For pets adopted directly from the shelter * For pets adopted from other sources, and * Low-income assistance for those who adopt pets from other sources.

Verizon's "Push Pause" Features MCHS
MCHS volunteer coordinator, David Poole is featured on Push Pause, a local program produced by Verizon. For customers who have FiOS, the Push Pause segments run on Channel 1, usually between noon and 3 pm, one segment after the other, mixed in with some local news and sports. In this segment, David talks about the variety of animals available for adoption at MCHS, and shows off Stitch, a very sweet black cat, and Lorna, a lively pit-boxer mix -- both looking for homes.

Happy Tale
I adopted Sabrina (Jan was her shelter name), a soft black bunny with a white spot on her nose, last fall. Over the past twenty years I have taken in strays, rescues and fosters, but I have never seen a animal so happy to come home. On her first day living with me, Sabrina followed me around the house. She likes to be in the same room with me and will frequently jump up on the sofa next to me. I have never had a bunny become so attached to me. She is also very attached to my older male bunny; they are the best of friends
