A little clarification on Mouse
In Loving memory of Mouse
In Loving memory of Mouse

In the May 2, 2010 edition of BEALERT! we posted the sad news of losing one of our own children at Moriel's South African Missions. Salvador and Dave wrote to issue a bit of clarification concerning Angel, one of the other children mentioned in our posting.

Sal wrote,

A little clarification is needed concerning Angel. I have emboldened a couple of parts of the covering letter to show why I believe clarification is in order, viz. Angel was never an Ebyown baby. The introductory letter is worded in such a way that it portrays Angel as an orphan child, which she wasn't and that she was an Ebyown baby, which she wasn't. She was never in the same category as Mouse who was given to Ebyown for care and who Victoria, Julia and Lyn cared for. Angel was the granddaughter of Patience, who works at Ebyown in the laundry and other such important matters for the maintaining of Ebyown life. Angel's mother, Promise, came for a short spell to Ebyown for some schooling, which Di tutored.

I know if I had a child, I would be upset if a ministry my mother worked for claimed that my child was one of theirs. I am not saying that this is what anyone is intending in the message that was written, it is only what has been communicated, even though unintentionally, and that is why I say that a little clarification is needed to iron that out.

Again, we are sad to hear about Mouse and our sympathies lie with Dave, Lyn, Victoria and Julia at this time.

Shalom in Jesus,

Salvi

Mouse
Moriel Mission News - By Dave Royle - May 2010, Page 3
Sidondele or as we called him Mouse because of his tiny stature, went to be with the Lord recently. We had known Mouse for 4 years since we were introduced at a local hospital. Mouse had many health issues including CP and other brain damage which meant he could not eat very well. In fact the times he spent with us were constant feeding sessions with him having to be fed every two hours. It was very demanding work but because of this he had lots of contact with Lyn, Marijke and Prudence. In January we had to take him back to hospital as his weight was not increasing and then finally this month he went to be with the Lord.
Mouse was in a lot of pain at the end and so we thank God for His mercy in taking him home.
We do not yet know when the funeral can take place as his natural mum was in prison for most of his life and now she cannot be traced and so we have to wait for a police search.
We would like to thank all those who prayed for and supported mouse in his brief 6 years, he is now in the presence of Jesus.

When Whole Cities Fall
Moriel Ministries

MORIEL MINISTRIES - By Pastor Dave Royle - May 1, 2010

When Jerusalem fell to the Greco-Syrian tyrant Antiochus Epiphanes it fell twice. The first time was a gradual assimilation into the Greek culture that was first introduced by Alexander the Great and whose precepts were inherited by his military successors throughout the remnant of that once great yet brief empire. The vision that Alexander had was to see the whole world transformed by a single language and culture; this in turn was the thrust of this madman cum megalomaniac whose political and military pressure turned the rulers of Jerusalem's religious class upon themselves. The New Greek thought in the form of Hellenism was pitted against the traditions of Rabbinic Judaism and the new usurped the old with the result being the political and cultural domination of Greco-Syria.

The second time Jerusalem fell, its fall was strictly military. While away on a military campaign in Egypt, it was reported that Antiochus had fallen in battle and so the ruling Hellenist party pronounced themselves rulers in his place. Hearing this news the returning despot hit the Jewish people hard. Many thousands were murdered and Judaism was outlawed, punishable by death. The Temple and the Holy of Holies were desecrated and the abomination of desolation was erected in the form of a statue to Zeus baring the face of Antiochus himself. Thus, the persecution of the Jews and the annihilation of Judaism by the sword had begun.

What does this have to do with the Ebyown community living on the outskirts of the city of Springs? Plenty, I think, because the pattern that devastated a city so long ago is evident here in South Africa and may even be in your city. You can recognize a commonality between our situation and the situation Jerusalem found itself in two centuries before the Messiah came. Let me explain.

In 1991 when I first visited South Africa, the nation was at a crossroads. HIV/AIDS was just coming into its own. HIV was a challenge to the church, which to this day it has never fully accepted apart from a few exceptions. While the only real answer to HIV is a change of heart through the Gospel of Jesus Christ, a challenge that should have been met with true biblical evangelism, what is it we instead observed? Traditional churches expounding a social gospel which send HIV infected Zionists unconverted to Hell (that is, the Zionist Christian Church (ZCC) ([which] is neither Christian [nor] Zionist), or the new hyper-charismania gospel which is no gospel at all but is in fact a "Dr. Feel Good Cult" that panders to the West's anonymous so-called brethren, whose destination is no more and no less than the HIV infected Zionist.

Through its lack of unbiblical leadership, South Africa and Springs itself has pandered to every wind of doctrine its hireling leaders have allowed into their sheep pens. Rhema was the first big player. Ray McCauley, a charismatic leader, at the beginning did some notable things such as the integration of black and white believers during an apartheid regime. This however, went hand in hand with teachings borrowed by Kenneth Hagin and more recently Kenneth Copeland, Creflo Dollar and Benny Hinn which ensured that the black brethren who were set free from the black N'songomas (Witch Doctors) were now bound and shackled by the mainly white N'songomas' teachings of "God wants you rich". While some black brethren walk 20 kms to Rhema placing all they have in the offering buckets so God will bless them, the white N'songomas fly around in private jets, drive their Mercedes and live in palaces. As with the black N'songomas, the only ones getting rich are those proliferating this unbiblical occultist trash.

Although I cannot be too accurate chronologically, the second thing I observed was the Alpha Course. Alpha for kids, Alpha in prisons, Alpha everywhere. And once again, the merry-go-round of un-regenerated so-called brethren hit the nations and the cities' churches as congregations swapped membership lists to experience the latest fad.

Third was the spiritual warfare movement. (You may have noticed that all these fads are still around and have amalgamated into pseudo-Christian cults.) To my shame this is something I promoted myself till I woke up and smelled the coffee so to speak. Things that do not work and are unbiblical are promoted as true and factual when in reality they are delusional lies.

Transformations was 'round four' of our church merry-go-round. Even though it has been blown out of the water by factual objective journalism and the exposure of its proponent as a Universalist, the masses decided to believe the lie. What Paul said in 2Thessalonians 2:10-12 is presently being fulfilled, "And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness." (KJV)

Round five was a mixture of different personalities ranging from the "oneness" teacher Tommy Tenney whose derogatory remarks concerning Scripture paved the way for T. D. Jakes and others, to Bruce Wilkerson who at best was a mixture of pop psychology and American schmaltz.

Next was what I believe to be the most dangerous manifestation to hit South Africa and perhaps Christendom as a whole, Rick Warren's Purpose Driven Church, Purpose Driven Life and now Purpose Driven Community. Purpose Driven is the latest in a long list of man-made philosophies, which are akin to the Hellenism of the Second Temple Period, and has hit the body of Christ hard.

Bit by bit, biblical literacy has been undermined; little by little, one step at a time Christian integrity has been shattered. Gradually and irreversibly, discernment has been eroded, preparing us for "oneness" teachings and now the nice respectable face of Rick Warren who unashamedly declares his desire for a one-world church and one billion foot soldiers, which can only be achieved through unity with Rome, certain cults and other faiths.

Finally and more recently, we have been exposed to what is known as the Emergent Church. The Emergent Church did not appear overnight but has primarily been an evolution of the Ecumenicism we have been observing and warning about for years. But now it has been manifest with insidious teachings that denigrate the cross such as substitutionary atonement along with the introduction of mystical Roman Catholic teachings and New age meditation techniques that are thoroughly alien to biblical Christianity.

The result on a city beleaguered by every wind of doctrine and led by spineless shepherds is an amalgamation of every man-made philosophy that has gone before, and who dare speak against it? Jeremiah was right when he said, "A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?" (Jer. 5:30-31, KJV)

They prophesy falsely! The bemused twittering that entails prophecy nowadays is evident in almost every church. With no discernment through the Word, how can a believer understand the implications of someone speaking for the Lord things that do not come true?

The priests bear rule! Anyone who opposes is marginalized and treated as a pariah. The Purpose Driven philosophy has been steam rolled upon congregations by sacerdotal leaders. Those who question are treated as troublemakers.

The people love its so! O yes, to feel the Spirit provide your goose bump fix for another week while in between go unaddressed issues of sin such as adultery, theft and murder. Where is sanctification? Where is integrity? Where is Truth? All gone with the discernment that has been sucked out of the mind and heart of every true believer.

But what will you do in the end? Well, the city of Springs has fallen. Like Jerusalem, it has first of all been conquered by philosophy and culture. Every church and Sunday school is either a Purpose Driven, Willow Creek, or Alpha and everything is underpinned by TBN. The saddest fact is that like Jerusalem, the people of God have been divided brother against brother, sister against sister, parents against children. Sadly, even discernment ministry is divided against discernment ministry as one by one they fall to fleshly compromise that pits the new ways against the old ways. The remnant who once represented everything that is orthodox is now marginalized as a fringe group.

I am not a prophet, nor would want to be, but common sense and observation of the way God has dealt with His people must teach us that after being conquered through philosophy and assimilation into a culture, there must come oppression through one form of violence or another. But as Jeremiah says, "What will you do at the end of it?" (Jer. 5:31)

Israel at its most desperate always had a remnant. During this abominable time, Israel had a few who revolted and stood their ground against the overbearing forces that persecuted them. In a small village some kilometers from Jerusalem, people stood their ground and heralded a rallying cry that saw Israel, for a few years, gain independence again.

As a worshipping community now marginalized through modern pop culture and grievous heresy, as a worshipping community that has seen violence with the destruction of property in Bloemfontein and the slanderous insults of sacerdotal despots here in Springs, we too must heed the call to stand firm for the faith once and for all handed down to the saints and oppose the so-called faith propagated by the Bill Hybels and Rick Warrens of this world (which they have handed down to an apostate church) until He comes again.

Dave Royle

[Editor's Note: How I wish that this were something unique to Dave's observations about the situation in South Africa. As I read this I realized that this is exactly the same pattern in my own hometown in Southern California and the USA in general. - Danny.]

TEACHER REQUIRED
Ebyown needs a teacher to help Lyn with the education of the children. To remain a home school and assist in the adoption process of some of the children we need to establish that we can provide a solid educational environment to the South African High Court. Therefore if you can come and spend a year as Lina did last year you would be most welcome.

  • Period of work one year
  • Food and housing given
  • Working with children with many life challenges
  • Must have an education qualification
If this is something you would like to do and want to know more then please contact us

MORIEL MINISTRIES, South African Missions, Kwazulu Natal - By Salvador Ung Hayworth - May 2010

Dear Friends and family,

This newsletter is proving so hard to write! As much as we write in it we end up deleting. It is hard to express all that has happened in an interesting and meaningful way. So please forgive us if the newsletter sounds bitty and uninteresting. Our time in the UK gave us a sense of gratitude for where the Lord has called us to in ministering in South Africa, for however long the Lord wants us to be here for. By his grace, as written in the last newsletter, the Lord gave us the opportunity to serve Him in UK churches. For the majority it was a word in season. After the last newsletter we visited Starbeck mission (Yorkshire) and caught up with old friends, Becca and Susie who faithfully served at Ebyown for 6 months with us. The week before we had been at Ainsdale church (near Southport), which gave us opportunity to spend a few days with Aaron and Erin Royle who also were diligent co-workers and friends at Ebyown. During both these weekends our friend, Clayton Wells (son of Allen and Sue Wells who run Bezaleel), came up to visit us. While in Yorkshire we stayed with Susie's family, who were so hospitable and took us round York. From Yorkshire we went to visit our friend Pam, from the Moriel office in Australia, who was visiting the UK at the same time. It was a blessing to catch up with her down south, though it was such a short time. Pam is one of the many Aussie knitters who send us little baby jumpers, hats and booties to give out to the community.

The following weekend saw us visiting Salvi's old Baptist church in North Wales. We stayed with Salvi's old flatmate, Anthony Royle, and his wife and children. Salvi preached twice at the fellowship and it was encouraging to see new members there who have a love for truth. We left North Wales to visit our friend VJ from Walsall and while there for one night only the Lord brought another friend, Rocky, to visit. Salvi was up with them fellowshipping till 2 o'clock in the morning. The day after we visited Jo Rumley and his family. Jo did short term mission with Salvi in KwaZulu Natal in 2004 and they have been good friends since. Jo had just gotten back from South Africa where he got married to Gemma. We want to wish them every happiness and God's blessing in their marriage.

During the last week end of our stay we visited a couple of churches and it was a blessing to hear the preaching of the word. One church was a messianic fellowship in Manchester that have a very Jewish flavor to their worship but without the Judaising tendencies of the hyper-messianic movement. The pastor preached from Ephesians. The message centred on what the Lord has done for us causing us to raise our eyes to focus on His doing and His grace. After the meeting we joined Salvi's parents in Manchester who were out witnessing with Miguel. We both handed out tracts and Salvi was given the opportunity to share with a Sabre (Jew from Israel) called Shai. Shai asked many questions and was confronted with the Gospel witness, bible prophecy and even the claims of Jewish scholars themselves. When confronted with Moses' requirement that blood is needed for atonement he said that God has given wine for the blood. Salvi upheld that Moses specified that without the shedding of blood there can be no remission of sins and that this commandment was not given as metaphorical but literal. Shai stayed a long time but was unwilling to read the New Testament himself. We pray that God will lead other people to him. Finally we visited a church that Salvi used to attend in Stockport. The Pastor preached on how God has made us a holy people, a royal priesthood and the celebratory nature of being such. It was wonderful to catch up with many people all over the UK and we hope that we were as much an encouragement to them as they were to us. We want to extend a great thank you to all our family, friends and churches that showed hospitality to us while we were in the UK. You were an encouragement and a blessing to us.

After a good flight home we had a few days to catch up with friends Allen and Sue, Lorraine and others however our time was short. Salvi finished his Hebrew assignment which completed the certificate stage to the degree. On arriving in Kwazulu we were welcomed back with hugs and smiles from Phumalani's family. While we were away the bible study that we meet with had got together and taken on a project of there own. Before we write what they did we have to explain that while we were in the UK three churches asked us to share about our work and a couple asked us to show photographs. We had not gone to these churches to publicize our ministry or to raise support, Salvi's heart was to preach the word where it was wanted. However we were happy to meet their request and the photos of our hut showed a primitive looking bathroom. Much to our surprise we returned to a toilet installed in our hut with a tiled bath and basin. This was incredibly overwhelming as the bathroom now looks completely different. So, for those churches that saw the old bathroom please scrap those pictures. The group has also started to install a toilet for the Kraal, this will be wonderful for Gogo and the family, along with future visitors.

We have slotted back into life like we never really left, the Tuesday Lowsburg study has started again and Salvi has started his preaching again in the community. We have had our first clinic run for a guy who has TB that lives near to us. We have received 11 parcels of baby clothes from the Australian knitters which have arrived in perfect timing as winter is now here and we are looking forward to giving these out soon.

God's Mercy in Judgment

The 'end times' is a subject that has gripped the imagination of movie makers and Christian authors alike. The 'Left Behind' series has been swallowed up by numerous Christians while their movie counterparts are to be seen on the shelves of many Christian book stores. However, I think the musician Larry Norman put it well saying that, when Christians are asked, 'Have you read the Bible?' The answer they give is 'No but I've seen the film'. The Bible is the Word of God and though these products take much from the Bible they are no substitute. Books like 'The Late Great Planet Earth' brought millions into watching out for the signs of Jesus return but the trouble is that this sensationalism that was sparked off did not see the return that many expected. And the experience of life going on as usual and certain prophesies in these kinds of books not coming to pass generated a cynicism within people so that some people almost do not want to touch the book of revelation. They hear stories of world disasters and state that these things have always happened and thus are no indicator that Jesus is coming back. And so end times prophecy is put on the shelf, as if Jesus may or may not come back in the way Revelation indicates. To these people, to wait for the signs of Jesus' return is to be so heavenly minded so as to be of no earthly good. Why wait for Jesus to bring His kingdom when we can set it up for him? ...

Bezaleel Newsletter April 2010
Bezaleel Children's Home
Bezaleel Children's Home

MORIEL MINISTRIES - April 2010

Dear Friends

In this newsletter we would like to ask for prayer to insure the continued care of our children in our home without the fear of them being placed elsewhere. We have just received news from our social worker that calls for changes in direction for Bezaleel.

Before I begin I'd like to share regarding God's goodness to us in terms of His prompting and provision. At the beginning of the year the Lord prompted me to bring our home into order during the coming year in a practical sense. I.e. sorting through things, keeping what we need, giving away what we don't need and so on. I was sure it had something to do with the house. As you know, we were looking to the Lord for the house we're living in as the owners are selling and the ability to purchase it is beyond our reach. Friends of ours, knowing our plight visited us and said they have a house that would become available in about a years time that will meet the needs of a large family such as ours. It is still in Springs, which facilitates the continuation of visits for some of the children from their dads. We are very grateful for their faithfulness to the Lord and we pray His blessing on their lives.

I am humbled by the love of our heavenly Father in a world reeling from one crisis to another, creating fear and uncertainty around the world and seeking to encroach on our lives. The Lord in His unfailing character shows Himself as faithful, true and unchanging. We serve a God who is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, the Alpha and Omega of our lives and His world. When change comes upon us that is beyond our control, we know we can run to Him who tells us that He has not given us a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but a spirit of adoption as sons and we can safely hide under the shadow of His wing. Romans 8:14-25 and Revelation 1:8.

We were informed today that another provision for childcare, namely Foster Cluster Care (something we investigated a number of years ago when it was still at discussion stages) has been gazetted and passed into South African law. It falls somewhere between foster care and residential care (i.e. children's homes or villages) but leans more to the side of residential care in terms of requirements for registration and services rendered by the department or NGO one is working with. Deregistering of such a home also carries with it a lot of red tape. According to South African law, one can only foster up to six children but because of the crisis South Africa faces with regards to HIV/AIDS there appeared to open a window period where allowances were made for some people to foster more than six children. Besides our three adult children, we have one adopted child, eight legal foster children, two children living with us by private arrangements with their respective fathers and one child who stays with us on weekdays for the purposes of homeschooling and who goes home on weekends and school holidays. Now, because of the new law it puts our arrangement in jeopardy because it places us beyond the perimeters of the new law. We have two viable choices so as not to lose any of the children. Firstly to register as a foster cluster care home or secondly to adopt some of the children, to bring us back under the perimeters of the new law. Allen and I believe by the direction of the Lord and among other reasons our age (getting older has a wonderful way of reminding us how finite we are) have agreed not to take any more children into care and that decision has not been an easy one on our part. The children we now have require a tremendous amount of care simply by their number, homeschooling, their medical conditions and the very real reality of what the future holds in terms of the life expectancy of our HIV positive children, the strain from the care they will need and the heartache if their ARV treatment fails as well as our commitment to prepare the children for adult life in a world where finding ones feet is not always easy. In discussion with our social worker we believe it best to adopt the three younger children. We are not allowed to adopt any of our children who have known living parents, which four of our children do. She has urged us to begin proceedings as soon as possible and we will go to children's court next week to make the application for adoption. We will cease to receive the grants for the children but the Lord has shown His faithfulness to us in the past and our hope is in Him. We will look to the Lord in terms of adoption of the other children at a later stage.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and allowing us to share our burden with you. We cherish your prayers and we know that within all the changes taking place He is our Peace and we pray that all things be done for the children's sake and to the glory of His Name.

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.

John14:27. NASB

Yours in Jesus'

Allen and SueisHiHi
