Greetings!

It's hard to believe our last newsletter was back in November. There has been so much happening with the farm and family in the last two months that some things just had to wait. Now that the holidays are behind us and we settle in and wait for spring weather, I plan to tackle all those items I said I would do when it "slowed down" (a term generally followed by "yeah, right" around here). But here it is, the first thing on my new year's list - catching you up on the farm news.
The best news of all -Ray received the "all clear" from the doctors in December. Now we begin the next three-month watch. Failing the first three month checkup made it a long year but we can start 2011 with some relief on that subject.
2010 was the most productive year on the farm for plants and produce. We grew the most plants, had the most days at markets and supplied Harvest Moon Grille and food cart with salad and asian greens right through the end of the year. It did feel strange to harvest greens with snow on the ground! |
Windcrest Farm's New Online Store
Dreaming of growing your own organic tomatoes? Wish you knew where to get a Stevia plant? Want to have your plant order ready for pick-up at the market? Have an aunt in Maryland that wants to know where to order certified organic plants? Visit our new online store for this and more!
Through the magic of Google we have been receiving more and more requests from all around the country for our Certified Organic vegetable, herb and flower transplants. So we spent time this fall building our virtual storefront with all the varieties we love, working out the logistics of shipping plus adding features to help our local customers with plant orders and growing information. As with any web project, it's a work-in-progress. We hope you will stop in often, browse, send us your feedback, and of course, start dreaming about your spring garden. |
Congratulations to our Customers - Steve & Lee Tate - Goat Lady CSA
The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA) has named Steve and Lee Tate of Goat Lady Dairy and CSA as the 2010 Farmers of the Year at the 25 th Annual Sustainable Agriculture Conference in Winston-Salem, NC.
We had the pleasure of working with the Tates and farm manager Daniel Woodham to provide vegetable transplants for their 2010 Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program and we look forward working with them in 2011.
