| Greetings! |
This Saturday we will have our vegetable plants and blueberry bushes in three locations in the Charlotte area: Onion Transplants from Windcrest Farm | The smell of spring, for those fortunate enough not be be suffering from allergies right now, seems to be onions. The aroma of onions is in the air from mowing spring onions in the pasture, harvesting chives (see picture above), or packing onion transplants for their new home on other farms. Many thanks to Marie and Peggy for helping me count 17,000 onions into bundles of fifty for their journey to Minnesota last Sunday. It was meditative work as we silently repeated our mantra of 1, 2, 3, 4....25 until all the plants were shaken loose of their soil, roots and tops trimmed, bundled into packs of 50 and packed to shipment. Also, many thanks to our newest volunteers, Cindy and Nayeli along with Jane and Shaun, for their hard work this week. The last of our onion transplants will be available at the Market this week. These sweet Granex onions, the same variety they grow in Vidalia, GA are available in bundles of ten. |
