Greetings!
Despite the last few days of temperatures nearing 100 degrees, it is time to prepare your garden for vegetable plants that will extend your harvest into the cooler months ahead. Veggies that can be grown in the fall and, in some cases, overwintered for a very early spring harvest are:
Onions
Garlic
Broccoli
Brussels Sprouts
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Collards
Kale
Kohlrabi
Lettuce - Loose leaf, Romaine, Butterhead
Spinach
Beets
Carrrots
Parsnips
Radishes
Rutabagas & Turnips
Swiss Chard
Perennials Herbs
If you are ready for a gardening break, start thinking about planting a garden cover crop such as winter rye and crimson clover to help nurish your soil for next summer. Fall is also a good time to add slow-release soil amendments such as lime.
We will not be at the Market for the next few weeks as we prepare for the fall planting season. When we do return, we will be bringing many of the plants listed above for your gardens and containers. Please let us know if we can set aside any transplants for you.
