Greetings!
If you are walking today, be very, very appreciative. I can tell you, I miss it. Yes, I am still on crutches and it looks like this bruised hip joint of mine will keep me hobbling for another week or so. Grrrrr. Ray, Chad, Cristina, Katie, Jon, Kris, Jane, and Peggy are my right and left hands right now. LOVE YOU !

Ray made his vendor debut at the Cabarrus County Herb & Plant Sale on April 18th. He had a blast and decided this is his true calling. He is looking forward to getting our products out to more markets this year. Last Saturday he sold at the Charlotte Tailgate Market and he hopes to return as soon as we have more patio ready products.

Lots of plants are leaving the greenhouse this week and next and going to organic NC market farmers. After seeding and nurturing all those plants for two months, it is bittersweet to see them go. After all, it can only be a business if we sell them, but I hate to see an empty greenhouse.

Our farm friends got potatoes, onions and flowers in the ground this week. Next week it is time to plant the tomatoes and peppers. If you are ready for your tomatoes, come see us at the Matthews Market. My daughter Cristina will be helping me this week. It should be fun!

Can we afford to eat ethically?

Organic food prices are daunting in a recession. But do we have to choose between our principles and our pocketbooks? Siobhan Phillips devised an experiment to find out and wrote an excellent article about her experience on Salon.com. I was truly inspired by her article and encourage you to give it a read.
