Plans are underway for a seed buying co-op. If you are interested in saving shipping costs for seeds, trying new varieties without buying a full packet of seeds, and getting a price break through co-op buying, please contact me at mroberts@windcrestorganics.com.

Greetings!

We will be making the last of the main season transplant deliveries and attending the Southeast Greenhouse Conference for some continuing education on Saturday. This will be a welcome getaway at mid-year. I have been in the greenhouse since January and we are now in that space between loads of green tomatoes on the vine and the blush on the fruit that tells us its time to take lots of tomatoes to market.

Just as I am getting the stray transplants out of the greenhouse, the seed catalogs for Fall plants arrive. Believe it or not, we are now making plans for lettuces, broccoli, perienial herbs and all the veggies that like the cool weather. Fall plants will need to be seeded in August to mature in the cooling temperatures before frost. This year we have two hoophouses to protect our crops when the thermometer dips below freezing.

In conjunction we our own seeding, we will offer a "Starting From Seed" workshop to help you learn how to have greater success starting your plants from seed. For more information, see below.

This week we harvested our garlic with the help of our Working Share teams - Steve & Sandra and Steve & Sharon.  Our first Working Share program has been a wonderful way to share our farm with people who are eager to learn and ask the great questions that keep me learning as well. Thanks also to Carol Ann and Adam for helping enrich our farm and family.
