La Cañada Flintridge Calif., May 20, 2011- The Allen Lund Company's Perishable Logistics Director, Craig Cahill, has been selected to join the 2011-2012 United Fresh Produce Industry Leadership Program.  The year-long program, sponsored by a grant from DuPont Crop Protection, combines field experience with classroom instruction.  The main focus is to develop four core areas: leadership development, business relationships, government and public affairs, and media and public communication.

 

12 applicants representing a cross section of the industry are chosen annually, this year being the 17^th class.  To be considered, candidates submitted an application which included two essays explaining why they would like to participate, as well as their point of view on the most important challenges affecting the produce industry .  "Craig Cahill has many years of produce transportation experience, and we are confident he will gain greater knowledge, as well as add to the program," commented Kenny Lund, Vice President of Support Operations for the Allen Lund Company.  Lund added: "The United Fresh Produce Association has a long history of success with their leadership program and we are excited to have an Allen Lund Company employee selected to participate."

 

Cahill has represented the Allen Lund Company at United's Public Policy Convention for the last 5 years.  "Marching with peers on Capitol Hill has allowed me to see firsthand not only the effort, but the results this organization achieves for the benefit of the produce industry.  United does great work on behalf of the industry and I'm looking forward to participating in their leadership program," stated Cahill.  The program will begin in July with a trip to California, then to Washington, DC, Wilmington, DE, Chile, and finally Dallas, TX where they will graduate at the 2012 United Fresh convention.
