La Caņada Flintridge Calif., March 25, 2011- The Allen Lund Company once again provided the transportation of relief supplies to Haiti. Earlier this week, 590 desks and chairs, donated by Virco Mfg. Corp. of Torrance, CA, were loaded into an ocean container. Today, the container was transferred onto a flatbed truck, arranged by the Flatbed Division of the Allen Lund Company, for transport to Miami, FL. From Miami, the container will be delivered to Cite Soleil, Haiti, hopefully arriving in the next month. "The children of Haiti who attend the Hands Together free schools have always had to attend classes in rather primitive conditions," stated Karl Holtsinder, Mission Haiti Coordinator for Holy Family Church of Pasadena. He continued, "Hand's Together schools were badly damaged in the Haiti earthquake in January 1010. Five teachers and five students were crushed to death; they have rushed to rebuild the schools and they are now open and fully operational. For the senior high school students, this will be first time in their lives that they will have real desks."
"We are proud to continue our partnership with Holy Family Church and Mission Haiti to provide whatever transportation assistance we can to improve conditions in Haiti", added Allen Lund, President of the Allen Lund Company. Over the past seven years, the company has donated transportation services to move an array of relief supplies, including water trucks and generators to Haiti, partnering with Holy Family Church, Mission Haiti.
