Allen Lund Company and growers team up for Navidad en el Barrio 2010.

La Canada Flintridge, Calif., December 8, 2010 -- The Allen Lund Company will team up with Salinas, Central Valley and Yuma, AZ growers for a fifth consecutive year to donate fresh produce to Navidad en el Barrio, a non-profit organization providing food baskets to over 20,000 families at or below the poverty level throughout Southern California at Christmas. This years' donations include 96 cases of celery, 98 cases of pears, 153 cases of salad mix, and 540 cases plus 12 bins of naval oranges.
The Allen Lund Company will donate the cost of transporting the produce. Participant growers include Sunsation Farms of Monterey, CA, Taylor Farms Retail of Salinas, CA, as well as Sun Pacific, headquartered in Los Angeles and Scully Packing of Finley, CA.
"We are grateful to our growers, who have stepped up in what has been a very challenging year for everyone," stated Tracey Lewin, assistant manager, Los Angeles refrigerated division. "Navidad is an important effort; one the Allen Lund Company continues to support and believe in," added Lewin. |
