Greetings!
Greetings from Indianapolis, where the 77th General Convention of the Episcopal Church is in full swing. I have some exciting news for you:
Bishop-Elect Nick Knisely has been given the final consents to become the 13th Bishop of RI at his November 17th consecration. Watch the announcement here.
Nick will be joining us in September to get to know our diocese, in advance of officially taking over as Bishop on November 17th, When Bishop Wolf retires.
There is much more exciting news to come from #GC77 (as the event is being called on twitter), so visit the #GC77 pages on our website to keep track of what our deputies are up to, daily sermons, etc. New pictures are being uploaded daily over on our facebook page.
On a sadder note, The Rev. Al Barnaby passed on June 28th after a long battle with Cancer. Read more here.
Blessings,

Episcopal Charities 2012
Pulling together, We can make a powerful difference in 2012
The 2012 Episcopal Charities campaign is well underway. We are happy to report that some great work done has been done by our parish volunteers. Our current pledges total $207,000. That's nearly 50% of our $425,000 goal for the year. While this is good news, it is clear that there is still much work to be done.
We encourage all parishes to reach 100% of their households. This is a key element to reaching our goal.
We are grateful to our dedicated volunteers who are working hard to encourage people in their parishes to participate in this great work. Congratulations to our donors for their support and commitment to helping people living on the edge.
It takes a team . . .
When you give to Episcopal Charities, you join a team of donors, volunteers, agencies and churches who are working together - caring for the needs of those who are hungry for food and shelter, who thirst for education and a chance for a better life, who seek adequate heat care, and long to live in safety with their families
Together we are "Feeding the Hungry" and are a powerful force for social and economic change. 100% of your gift goes directly to support agencies that provide desperately needed services:
- Relief, comfort and council for people in crisis
- Productive, safe places for inner city youth to spend time
- Shelters for homeless adults and their children
- Meals for the less fortunate
- Improved elderly care
- Sanctuaries for victims of domestic violence
And so much more!
For parishes that have yet to start, speakers continue to be available. Contact Peggy in the Charities Office if you would like to arrange for a speaker.
Ways to Give:
- Donate online with the button below or on the donation page at www.episcopalri.org/charities
- Respond when contacted by our parish representative.
- Send your donation with your name, address, phone # and parish to 275 North Main Street, Providence RI. 02903 401-274-4500, ext. 234
- Contact Episcopal Charities: Peggy (401) 274-4500 x234 peggy@episcopalri.org
