Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island Events Newsletter  |  February 27th 2012

Greetings!

There are only a few days left to register for this year's Diocesan Convocation! Register online by March 2nd to avoid any late fees. The theme is "Feeding the Hungry" and both days will feature author Sara Miles. Also, the Bishop Search Committees's candidates for the next Bishop of Rhode Island are on schedule to be announced at Convocation. Read the full Convocation ads here.

There is one other date you should save as we move towards our June 2nd election. Save May 12th for the Walkabout, your chance to meet the Bishop Candidates as they "walkabout" from small group to small group answering your questions. The event will take place at St. Andrew's School. More details will be announced shortly.

Blessings,

Ruth Meteer

Congratulations and many thanks to our donors and volunteers for their support and commitment in healing the gaps hurts, and brokenness in somany of our neighbors. We are thankful that so many heard our second call, asking those who had already given to give again this year. With your help, we continue to be a link between healers and those needing healing.

As we close out the year 2011, our pledge total is $400,000. We have made grants to 80 social service agencies throughout the state that are there to assist those in fragile situations. Our economy continues to be burdensome and we are grateful that so many could continue a tradition that the Rt. Rev. John Seville Higgins began in 1952 -"People Helping People".

Every dollar of every gift was given out in grants. Spread the word ! ! !

2012 Annual Campaign plans are underway. Volunteers in your parish will once again call on you as we continue this important work. We hope that you will continue to respond as you have in the past.
