Greetings!
Last Sunday was Pentecost, and churches across Rhode Island held very creative services to commemorate the day. People wore red slippers to church at Emmanuel Newport, and St. Peter's-by-the-Sea invited St. Augustine's, Kingston over for a Bluegrass Mass of sorts see photos here.
What did your parish do for Pentecost? Share it with the rest of the diocese on our facebook page to inspire each other.
In other news, June 4th's "Evening under the Stars" ECC fundraiser was a success, and you can view pictures on the new ECC facebook page.
Last but not least, RISEN Magazine should reach your mailboxes any day now, but if you can't wait any longer you can view it online here.
Blessings, Ruth Meteer Communications Director Episcopal Diocese of Rhode Island *The deadline for submissions to the next e-RISEN is Tuesday June 28th. Use our online form to submit. |

Episcopal Charities 2011
The Episcopal Charities Annual Campaign began on March 13. Speakers from our funded agencies have been visiting parishes throughout the diocese to help parishes kick off the campaign.
We are hearing wonderful reports of their visits to spread the word of how Charities contributions help them to do their work in Rhode Island communities, to assist our neighbors who are in desperate situations.
Funds from Episcopal Charities assist battered women and abused children. Thousands will have food, heat, shelter, healthcare and other basic needs. Elderly and terminally ill receive comfort and a sense of dignity through their last days. Those who suffer from drug addiction receive help toward recovery. Immigrants will be able to read and speak English. Children find fellowship and learn team-building skills at summer camps
We are grateful to our dedicated volunteers who are working hard to encourage people in their parishes to participate in this great work. Congratulations to our donors for their support and commitment to helping people living on the edge.
For parishes that have yet to start, speakers continue to be available. Contact Peggy in the Charities Office if you would like to arrange for a speaker.
2011 Campaign Goal is $450,000. As of today, our volunteers have raised $175,000 -nearly 40% of our goal. Together we can make a difference. All you need is a caring heart!
