Greetings!

Please note: The Prison Ministry Meeting will be on February 19th at the Cathedral, not February 12th! click here for the full ad.

I hope you all weathered well the icy mess that fell from the heavens this week.  For some church-sign humor about this winter click here. It's a laugh.

I don't know about you, but I'm excited for spring! Besides the nicer weather, bestselling author Diana Butler Bass will be speaking at our 2011 Convocation on March 5th. You can register online now or click here to read the full ad.

In the mean time check out the Rev. Dcn. John Higginbotham's ordination photos, online here

Also, as many of you know Bishop Wolf had a knee replacement Surgery on January 31st. All went well, and she was transferred to rehab last night. Pray for a speedy painless recovery!

Stay warm, drive safe, count your blessings,

2010 EPISCOPAL CHARITIES UPDATE

May we share all God's blessings in this Season of Thanksgiving.

Each year, as we get closer to Thanksgiving, we take time to reflect on our blessings and remember all the things that we should be grateful for. We are thankful for our health and the health of our families. We are thankful to have a safe place to live, to have enough to eat, money to pay the bills, and fill our cars with gas. We are blessed with the good health to be able to play with our kids and help them do homework. We are grateful that we can go to the doctor when we are not well and have access to medicine. We are fortunate to have time to relax, watch TV, read a book, or spend time with friends.

Well, that's the way it should be. Yet, during this economic crisis and high unemployment, it will be difficult for many to be thankful. Many will not have a job. Many will lose their home or have no place to rent. Many cannot buy food, pay for heat or gas. Many will lose their health benefits or be unable to pay the pharmacist for medicines.

With the work or our dedicated volunteers and generous donors,
Episcopal Charities has been able to lessen this burden. We are very thankful.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we want you to know that you have been a gift to us. We wish to thank you for all the special gifts that have been given and the outstanding efforts that have made to fulfill the Episcopal Charities Mission. Because of you, social service agencies from Woonsocket to Westerly, Aquidneck to Apponaug will have food, heat, shelter healthcare, and other basic and special needs for people in fragile situations.

Together, we are keeping this great tradition and mission alive. Have a joyful and Happy Thanksgiving !

Campaign Update:

As of November 17, 2010, pledges total $367,0000 - 73% of our $500,000 goal.
