Greetings!
It's Holy Week!
I hope you all are having a wonderful week preparing for Easter. We've been busy here at the Diocesan House, as usual (if not more).
Last week's Chrism Mass, renewal of vows for the Clergy, was a beautiful event. Keep an eye on our Diocesan Blog for photos!
Also on the Blog, I've posted some links relating to the difficult decision Bishop Wolf and the Standing Committee made last week, to depose Ann Holmes Redding. There is an article from the Seattle Times, as well as a few TV and radio interviews with the Bishop.
The Blog can be seen on our homepage or at
Blessings,

Creativity, Change, and Conflict Course When: June 8-12, 2009 from 3:00-7:00 pm daily Where: Location on the EDS campus TBA Description: Creativity, Change, and Conflict, an Episcopal Divinity School mini-course taught by The Rev. Dr. William Kondrath, offers church and agency leaders an approach for creatively addressing and resolving conflict in their church or organization. "By integrating creativity into the course, we begin to have a "whole health" approach to interventions, rather than only dealing with problems," says Kondrath. "The place where we start is: What would a church look like, what would you see happening, if creativity-rather than liturgy or education or social justice is what characterized your church? What would happen if we took Genesis seriously? We are created in the image of God-and "in the beginning" God is creator." Students will learn systems theory, methods for analyzing and intervening in congregations and agencies, and methods for addressing conflict creatively. The course will have a strong practical component with case studies and "lab" experiences. People will be invited not only to think outside the box, but to feel and act in ways that foster their own growth and the learning of the whole group. Your Episcopal Charities Dollars at Work Farm Fresh Rhode Island:
Since its inception in 2003, Farm Fresh has been committed to bring fresh, healthy food to all Rhode Islanders. Farm Fresh now strategically manages seven farmers' markets, bringing fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, eggs, and more to urban centers. They are responsible for five markets in Providence, and one each in Pawtucket and Woonsocket. For many low-income residents of our state access to fresh food is very limited. According to one USDA report, poor neighborhoods is urban centers can be characterized as "food deserts". These neighborhoods depend upon small "corner stores" for groceries which rarely have capacity and equipment to carry fresh produce. The consequences of the disparity are clear - low-income populations struggle with diabetes, obesity, and other nutrition-related health problems at disproportionate levels. In the summer of 2007, Farm Fresh began accepting food stamp benefits at farmers' markets, an important first step in bringing healthy food to these neighborhoods. In order for these markets to successfully serve these areas additional outreach is being done to publicize the markets, increase the use of food stamp benefits, and provide nutrition education to their customers. For more information contact: Ms. Sheri Griffin, PO Box 1943, Providence, RI 02912.
