Greetings!
I wish you a prayerful and formative Ash Wednesday! In this Lenten season, may you find Christ immanently present. This is a time of reflection and preparation, so take especial note of the many Lenten workshops and events listed in this issue of e-risen, I'm sure you will find something of interest and meaning to you this season.
Also, keep an eye on your snail-mailbox for the current issue of RISEN magazine which was published early this week. It contains the Bishop's powerful journal from her trip to the Sudan, a moving article on the significance of Ash Wednesday, and (of course) a registration form for our Diocesan Convocation, which must be returned by MARCH 4th.
If you aren't on the mailing address for RISEN magazine, and would like to sign up send an e-mail to risen@episcopalri.org.
Blessings,
Ruth Meteer Communications Officer Note: The submission deadline for the next eRISEN is Tuesday, March 10th. |

AROUND THE DIOCESE |
The Trinity Church Ministry of the Arts presents: "ART" an adult comedy by Yasmina Reza.
When: February 26, 27, 28, March 5, 6, 7 at 7:30pm and 2:00pm matinees on March 1st and 8th. Where: Honyman Hall at Trinity Church, in Newport Information: Directed and produced by Tom C. Erb, "ART" concerns the cataclysmic effect on three friends, Serge (Pro Lyon), Marc (Stephen Rous), and Yvan (Paul Koumrian), when Serge purchases an expensive work of abstract art-a large painting consisting of white lines on a white canvas. As the three men engage in an ongoing debate over the value of the painting, emotions run high and the conflict escalates to the point of nearly destroying a long-standing friendship. "ART" addresses themes exploring various aspects of the nature of friendship. Most critics agree that Art is less about debates over artistic values than it is about the complexities of friendship. It is the winner of the1996 Olivier Award for Best Comedy and 1998 Tony Award for Best Play. There will be a suggested donation of $15.00 to benefit the Trinity Church Ministry of the Arts, RI Episcopal Charities, and the Edward King House Senior Center. How can music that is heard but not sung by an assembly invigorate the worship experience and strengthen the life of a congregation? Join us as we seek to examine these questions. Preachers, Presiders, Scholars, and Musicians will gather at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music for a three day symposium, to explore three broad repertoires of liturgical music: Jazz, Sacred Music of the Black Church, and Western Classical. Each repertoire will be examined and discussed in lecture and workshop. An early Registration fee is still in effect ($100; $50 Student)
