The first session is an Introductory Dinner that is being held at the Church of the Epiphany, 1336 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, on Thursday, November 13th at 6:00 PM. All clergy have information on the program, so please speak with your parish clergy if you are interested. .

CONFIRMATIONS
The '08 Confirmation Schedule is as follows:

The candidates should have a 3x5 card on which are printed their first and middle names (no last names, please) in type large enough for the Bishop to read. It is also helpful to indicate in smaller print, somewhere on the card, which rite the candidate will be receiving, i.e. confirmation, reception, or re-affirmation. Vestments Clergy will vest (white) and process and should be prepared to assist with the distribution of communion. Parish Register Be sure to bring your parish register for the Bishop's signature. Lectors and Collection The deaneries or host parish will need to provide ushers, and someone to take the collection and may provide lectors. It is especially appropriate to ask confirmands to present the gifts. Candidates should not, however, be asked to serve as lectors. Reception The reception is the responsibility of the deanery and host parish. Certificates Will be available at the event.

Evensong at St. Luke's East Greenwich
|
|
Evensong Tradition Continues at St. Luke's East Greenwich
Experience Evensong at St Luke's Episcopal Church Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 5pm. Led by St. Luke's Canterbury and St. Cecilia Choirs, the service will feature guest cantor Rev. Gregory Lisby from Church of the Ascension in Cranston. Sung evening prayer will be officiated by the Rev. Craig Burlington, with music direction by Priscilla Adams Rigg. Located at Peirce and Church Streets, East Greenwich, St. Luke's is handicapped accessible and ample parking is available.
Evensong, a combination of the monastic liturgies of Vespers and Compline, was created by Archbishop Cranmer (1489-1559) in England. The liturgy celebrates the incarnation of Jesus (Christ becoming human). Framed within traditional Jewish Psalms are the Magnificat - Song of Mary, and the Nunc Dimittis - Song of Simeon. The service at St. Luke's will be sung in English.
St. Luke's Music program is an artistic gem of the West Bay, comprised of three vocal choruses, handbell choir and chime choirs, and instrumentalists. The music department involves 78 professional and amateur musicians from ages 3 through 80. Associated with the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM), based in Salisbury, England, it is considered a model among U.S. Episcopal churches in the musical and liturgical education of children and adults. We invite musicians at all proficiency levels to join us, and welcome all who love sacred music traditions to come, listen, and share the joy of musical worship.
For more information contact St. Luke's at 401-884-4116, or www.stlukeseg.org.
