Making a Difference
ByGrace

One of our teens, Savannah Geasey, is making her mark on the world by volunteering for 3 weeks in Nairobi, Kenya at the By Grace Disabled and Orphan Centre. It is a school by day and an orphanage at night, serving over 300 Kenyan children affected by the AIDS epidemic.  She will be working as a teacher's aide and assisting where needed. Upon her return she plans to share her experiences with her church, school and community and hopes to establish an outreach program with St. Mary's in Portsmouth.

Savannah is asking for support in any one of the following 3 ways:

  1. Keep her in your prayers as she travels to a 3rd world country. Ask that God guides her in her new adventures.
  2. Contributions to her travel would be appreciated and will go towards airfare, shots and compensation to her host family in Africa. Email maryann@episcopalri.org for info on making a contribution. Remaining amounts will be donated directly to Flying Kites a local organization that supports the orphanage.
  3. Attend the Flying Kites fundraiser on Friday June 22nd and Saturday June 23rd (6 PM each night). Boys & Girls Club, 95 Church St in Newport. All donations and proceeds from the silent auction of student work will directly benefit Flying Kites. www.flyingkiteskenya.org
