Happy New Year!
In order to start the year off right, I thought we
should lead with some exciting news ... Bishop Wolf is
getting married!
Bishop Wolf and Thomas Charles Bair, Jr. are planning
to be wed at the Cathedral of St. John on April 21st.
Former presiding bishop, Frank Griswold, is slated to
officiate. An article was published in this last
Sunday's PROJO.
In other news, as of the New Year I have taken on
the role as the Editor of RISEN. My first issue as the
new
editor should be on stands around the beginning of
March. The deadline for submissions to this issue is a
very firm January 31st as I am due to have my baby
daughter in February. Nothing like two big new
projects!
There are some great programs coming up
this month. The Rev. Charles Fulton (Director
of Congregational Development for the Episcopal
Church) will be here to share his wisdom with laity
and clergy on the morning of Saturday, Jan 13th.
Also, The Reverend Jeffrey Jencks, Rector
of St. John’s Church in Ashton and Lt. Colonel with
the 43rd Military Police Brigade of the RI Army
National Guard, will talk about his experience as a
chaplain with combat troops in Iraq on Thursday,
January 18th. Details on those events are in this
issue.
Again, a very happy 2007 to all.
Peace,
Jessica Gates

The All Saints' Memorial Church September 11th
Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by All Saints'
Memorial Church as a response to the events of
September 11, 2001.
Thousands of people had their lives shattered by the
attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
The effects will be felt throughout the world for years
to come. Such a tragedy should never again occur,
and the parishioners of All Saints' Memorial Church,
like all people of conscience, must work to make
certain that it does not. Since our parish also feels it
must minister to the wider community, it has
established a scholarship to accomplish both
purposes.
Each year the church will award a scholarship of
$500.00 to a graduating high school senior. Any
student who is a parishioner of an Episcopal
congregation in the Diocese of Rhode Island may
apply. Applicants for this scholarship must plan to
attend and be accepted in a college or university for
the following academic year.
If you have internet access and Microsoft Word, the
application can be downloaded from our website at
www.allsaintsmemorial.com. You can also request an
application by calling the parish office at 751-1747.
Applications are due by April 1, 2007
