Seasons Greetings!
And here we are in Avent!
Looking for an alternative to red sweaters and
eggnog this holiday? What if you could help end the
violence in Dafur or help eliminate AIDS in Africa?
Some of the sites below offer charitable shopping as
well as direct donations that can be done in
someone's name. Try
these sources for a truly meaningful gifting
experience:
Episcopal Relief and Development
http://www.er-
d.org/
Product Red (Featured at One Episcopalian)
http://www.joinred.c
om/
ONE Campaign
http://www.
one.org/
and Heifer International is always a
favorite - be sure to check out the Read to Feed
program in the Resource Center section of this
newsletter.
http://www.heifer.org/
I also encourage you to sign up for the Episcopalians
for Global Reconciliation email newsletter. The
latest issue mentions the Orphans in
Rwanda. A wonderful project to support.

And as usual...
Do you know someone who needs to be getting
eRISEN? Forward this email on and encourage them
to sign up!
Each eRISEN is divided in to segments. You will
always find Diocesan, Parish, Youth and General
events along with occasional information from the
Resource
Center and Deployment (Clergy updates). If there is
available room, you may also find interesting
articles. Would you like to see something in eRISEN
that is currently not featured? Let us know by
emailing risen@episcopalri.org.
This is YOUR calendar tool. We send out eRISEN
twice a month to keep you updated on current
events happening around you. Pass it on!
For information on how to submit events (and the
next deadline), see the bottom of this email.
Peace,
Jessica Gates

The All Saints' Memorial Church September 11th
Scholarship
This annual scholarship was established by All Saints'
Memorial Church as a response to the events of
September 11, 2001.
Thousands of people had their lives shattered by the
attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
The effects will be felt throughout the world for years
to come. Such a tragedy should never again occur,
and the parishioners of All Saints' Memorial Church,
like all people of conscience, must work to make
certain that it does not. Since our parish also feels it
must minister to the wider community, it has
established a scholarship to accomplish both
purposes.
Each year the church will award a scholarship of
$500.00 to a graduating high school senior. Any
student who is a parishioner of an Episcopal
congregation in the Diocese of Rhode Island may
apply. Applicants for this scholarship must plan to
attend and be accepted in a college or university for
the following academic year.
If you have internet access and Microsoft Word, the
application can be downloaded from our website at
www.allsaintsmemorial.com. You can also request an
application by calling the parish office at 751-1747.
Applications are due by April 1, 2007
