"Love our politics"

The Greater Reading PAC's first political fundraiser/party for 2011 will benefit our future
endorsed progressive Democratic candidates.

The next party/fundraiser will be on Saturday, February 12, 7-10PM at the home of
Mark and Zelda Yoder, 1601 Lorraine Road in Reading 19604.

Join us for a Valentine's party of good food & special wines & beers, delicious desserts,
exciting raffles and great political discussions. All past and potential candidates are, of course, invited to come & meet local political activists, elected Democratic officials, &
area campaign contributors.

We can't wait to get together to talk about our 2011 campaigns for Judy Schwank running in the Special Election for PA Senate, Berks County Commissioner, Berks County District Attorney, Berks County Recorder of Deeds, Mayor of Reading and others!

The cost of the event is $25 per person (or $50, or $100, if possible) and 100% of your
contributions will go to electing local progressive Democratic candidates.
Since our founding in 2006, you have helped us raise over $30,000 to elect
progressive Democratic candidates.

BCTV Debate, 2/15

Democratic Senate candidate Judy Schwank to debate challenger on BCTV

The League of Women Voters of Berks County will present a Candidates' Forum on Tuesday, February 15. Airing on BCTV at 8pm, the Forum is a debate between rival candidates for the Pennsylvania Senate District 11 seat formerly held by the late Mike O'Pake's. Edmond Doherty is coordinating the program.

Guests include Democrat Judy Schwank, a former Berks County Commissioner and former Dean of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at Delaware Valley College.

"While there will never be another Mike O'Pake, Judy Schwank shares his commitment to serving allpeople in the 11th District," said Berks County Democratic Chairman Tom Herman. "She has the hands-on experience in state government to hit the ground running." Schwank will debate Republican Larry Medaglia.

The Special Election for Mr. O'Pake's former seat will be held one month later, on Tuesday, March 15. There will be only one race on the ballot, and the person elected will fill out the remainder of his term.

Registered voters should go to their normal polling location to vote in the Special Election on March 15. If unable to attend your polling place in person that day-due to illness, disability, military service, or qualifying business reasons-you may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot.

Absentee Ballot Applications are now available now for the March 15th Special Election. You can go to the Pennsylvania Department of State online voting information and resource center www.votespa.com for full instructions and to download the Absentee Ballot Application. Or you can call the Berks County Elections office at 610-478-6490.

The campaign has set up phone banking operations at the I.B.E.W. hall in Sinking Spring every Monday through Friday from noon until 8:30. (In February, Tuesday evening phone banks will take place at the Berks Dems office from 5:00 to 8:30).
