Ten Most Expensive Cars Ever Sold at Monterey
As reported last week, Gooding & Co. has consigned a 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa prototype for their August 20-21 Pebble Beach sale. The car is a potential top sale record breaker for Monterey car week, as a similar TR sold for $12,402,500 at RM's 2009 sale in Maranello, Italy (SCM# 120485), and another bid to $10,700,000 but remained unsold at RM's Monterey sale last year (SCM# 165590).
For comparison, we've compiled a list of the ten most expensive cars ever sold at Monterey. View the gallery here. |

eBay Motors Catch of the Week: The Final SCM "Road to Reno" MGB - Your Best Choice in an Affordable Sports Car!
Before our burgundy convertible did the round-trip from Portland to Reno, it was extensively road-tested by SCM staffers and the veteran mechanics at Harold's, a local shop specializing in British classics. The extensive mechanical work done in preparation for the drive included a new brake master cylinder, new springs and A-arm bushings, a new driveline, fresh seat cushions, a freshly tuned carb, and lots more. This car is now a very well-sorted driver ready for your driving pleasure. Let our documented, multi-thousand dollar loss be your gain! See the listing here.

Keith's Corner: Buddy, Can You Spare a Berlina?
The past weekend was an orgy of sports car action. Saturday, BMW and Mercedes were the featured marques at Cars in the Park, the "everyman's section" of The Allure of the Automobile exhibit at the Portland Art Museum.
The SCM Isetta was featured next to a BMW 507 (owned by SCMer Brown Maloney) and and an M1 (owned by SCMer Tom Anderson, owner of Carrera Motors in Bend, OR). Our 4-year-old Bradley decided the Isetta was his personal mobile playset, and he invited other kids to come scramble around on it. Read more here.
