    Questioning the Scientific Method
    scientist_joke

Below are three recent articles which call into question the gold standard in Western Medical Research: The placebo controlled, double-blind study.

Each article takes on a different angle of scientific research, but if you read all three, you will have to come to the conclusion that there is a lot we don't know - and that is humbling.

    1. The Power of Placebos

This article looks at what happens when you actually tell the patient that they are receiving a placebo pill. Guess what? The placebo pill still works, even when the doctor AND the patient both know it's fake pill

Bonus Article: Mercola.com asks how do we know exactly what is in a placebo pill

Basis of Many Medical Studies Found to be Proved Fatally Flawed

    2. Lies, Damned Lies and Medical Science

"Much of what medical researchers conclude in their studies is misleading, exaggerated, or flat-out wrong. So why are doctors-to a striking extent-still drawing upon misinformation in their everyday practice? Dr. John Ioannidis has spent his career challenging his peers by exposing their bad science."

    3. The Truth Wears Off

Is there something wrong with the scientific method? This article examines the "decline effect" - it demonstrate how many results that are rigorously proved and accepted during scientific tests start shrinking in later studies
