  • Greetings!

Next Wednesday, September 17th, at 7pm, Alaska Center Acupuncture will present a 1-hour class on Massage for the Lymphatic System.

The well-being of every individual depends on the health of the lymphatic system. Just imagine what that can mean in fighting a broad array of diseases. There are millions of people worldwide who currently suffer with a disorder or disease of the lymphatic system, such as lymphedema and related lymphatic disorders, cancer, AIDS and other illnesses of inflammation, auto-immunity, digestion, pulmonary function. There are also millions of others who are at risk for lymphatic malfunction such as individuals who have had surgery, injury, infection, or some other insult to their lymphatic system.

The lymphatic system is a key player in the human circulatory and immune systems. The most prevalent lymphatic disorder is lymphatic insufficiency, or Lymphedema. Lymphedema is a disease with many different causes. Please join us in a discussion of:

    · The Lymphatic System
    · A description and types of Lymphedema
    · Risk factors for developing Lymphedema
    · Guidelines to follow to help prevent Lymphedema from occurring
    · How to manage Lymphedema through self-care, therapies and treatments

Please pre-register for this presentation by calling Alaska Center for Acupuncture at 745-8688. Space is limited, so call early!

About the presenter: Sandy Duncan, CMT, CDT came to Alaska in October 1958, and has lived in the Valley for 25 years.
