ATTENTION
Concept

I heard a quote recently that I want to share with you. It says, “Where ATTENTION goes, energy flows and results show.” Other ways I’ve heard this said are, “You get what you focus on.” And “What you focus on expands.” However you say it, the message is the same. ATTENTION is everything.
Discussion

So then the question is, what is your ATTENTION on? If you are trying to get back in shape, are you focused on diet and exercise or do you fall prey to dessert and a nap instead? If your goal is a flourishing career, are you following your life’s passion or are you more concerned about how unhappy you are in your current job? If you’re single and want to be married, is your ATTENTION on attracting your mate or do you spend your time lamenting the fact that you’re alone?

The challenge with being single-on-the-way-to- being-married is knowing what to focus on. So much seems out of your control. Yet there are things you can do to keep moving toward your goal, things that are very much in your control. Things that you can do right now.

And those of you who are already in a relationship may also want to look at where your ATTENTION is. If you’re in a partnership that you want to last forever, do you spend your emotional energy worrying about your partner’s faults and the problems you have in your relationship, or are you and your mate doing what it takes to grow and nurture your connection?

When you are not getting what you want in your life, whether it’s in the area of relationship, work, health, or something else, chances are there’s something you don’t know -- and if you did know it would make all the difference. Sometimes we don’t know because we don’t look. We’re either in a mindset of “I know this already” or a mindset of “I don’t want to know”.

The key to moving powerfully toward whatever goal you have is to open your mind to the possibility that there’s more to discover. Start focusing on learning something new. Eventually your solution will come if you keep your ATTENTION on that intention.

Coaching

Want to know what to put your ATTENTION on? The four key areas below will help you create an awesome love relationship. If you’re single, these will help you attract your life partner. If you’re in a couple, they’ll help you deepen your togetherness.

Fall in love with yourself – If you don’t love you it’s hard to let anyone else love you. If you do love you, you’re more attractive, effective, and content. Many of us like ourselves, and some love parts of themselves, but do you really love all of you? Do you love yourself unconditionally, the way you’re asking a lover to do for you?

Focus on personal growth – This is for the purpose of loving, appreciating and understanding yourself and others. Different from professional growth, though sometimes the two can overlap, personal growth is about exploring your life in ways that expand power, freedom and choice. Most importantly it’s about learning to expand your capacity to love and to open your heart.

Be responsible for what you’ve created in your life so far – Blaming others for what happened only gets you more of what you don’t want. Understanding and accepting that your life is the way it is because of the choices you’ve made is the first step toward changing it for the better. This doesn’t mean that anything/everything was your fault. It does mean that you have a say in how your life goes. The best next steps will naturally unfold if you are focused on being responsible.

Create opportunities to meet new people – Obviously, your soul mate is not going to show up at your doorstep unannounced. You have to get out there, generate dates, meet new people. The key here is to stay open to and create opportunities for yourself. The same goes for those of you who are already in relationship. New people, new couples, new ideas can impact your relationship in a positive way if you’re looking for them with that intention in mind.

Parting Thought

Remember, what you focus on expands. If what you’re getting isn’t what you wanted, maybe your ATTENTION needs some ATTENTION.
