Effective Friday, December 30th, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) will be required to gain access to the Fidelitec background screening site (https://fidelitec.clearstar.net). Because we take protecting personal information so seriously, Multi-Factor Authentication provides enhanced security by requiring more than one factor when authenticating the validity of users accessing Fidelitec. MFA uses the following factors in verifying a user: 1. Something a person knows - Username and Password
- Successful answer to user defined security question
2. Something a person has - Users computer or device that is verified using a cookie stored during authentication
Upon initial login, you will be required to define security questions and provide answers. Once security questions are defined, MFA verifies your identity in steps 2 and 3. When re-verification is required in MFA verifies identity using all three of the below noted steps. Step 1: One of your predefined security questions will be asked and answer required with the ability to skip to next question if answer is unknown. Note that security questions can be cleared by Fidelitec upon request. Step 2: You will select the method by which you want to receive PIN; via email or short message service to mobile phone (SMS), if SMS number is configured. Step 3: You will be required to provide PIN sent in step 2, or request it be resent if not originally received. When all steps are completed successfully, a cookie is created, matched to your user identity, and stored. The user will then be granted access. MFA will be required again when the cookie expires after 90 days, if the cookie doesn't exist (e.g. cookies are deleted or site is accessed from an unrecognized device) or when required by Fidelitec.
