"The 7 Iconic, Transparent, Empowring Business Buzzwords That Need to Die" |
 |
Content is important -- whatever type of marketing you're using, whether it's social media, brochures, or something else. What's important is what you say.
You've all seen some version of business buzzword bingo -- the game that tracks how often those buzzwords show up in meetings, teleconferences, etc. Tim Phillips, a member of Fast Company's expert blogging community, wrote a great article about this.
As hinted at in the blog's title (shown above), his seven, pet-peeve words are: issue (rather than problem), passion, unique, iconic, role (instead of job or career), transparency, and empowerment. Check out his witty reasons for eliminating these words from your business communications.
This is a good reminder that when you're writing for business, keep it simple and straightforward. Make every word you use "work" and earn its place in your writing.

Happy Holidays! |
 |
We're in the midst of December madness, counting down to the end of the year. Interspersed with all of the year-ending business activities are the opportunities to celebrate with friends and family. And we've hit the Winter Solstice, which means the days are getting longer!
Remember to take time to enjoy what is happening around you. Stop worrying about what comes next, just be in the present. Breathe. See you next year!
