Read My E-mail, Please! |
 |
Give people a reason to open your
e-mail. How do you that?
With a good Subject Line!
- Make sure you have one -- people tend to
delete e-mails with a
blank subject line.
- Make it concise and to the point.
People who read their
e-mails on a Blackberry only see the first
few words -- so make them
count.
- If your recipient might not recognize
your e-mail address, put
your name in the subject line.
- If you are including an attachment, say
so in the subject line
(w/ one attachment).

I Know I Will Never be Perfect . . . So What? |
 |
Here are a few of my thoughts as we celebrate
Freedom from
Self-Improvement Day. This doesn't mean
anything goes -- I still
need to get in shape, organize my
house, and learn to
manage my time better. But, I can still
accept myself for who I
am right now and feel good about it. I
think the big problem we
all have is that we beat ourselves up for not
being "perfect".
Yes, we know there are things we should be
doing differently and we are
trying to get there. But not being
there yet doesn't make us bad
people, just people who are still
trying. And isn't that what
it's all about -- we are trying.

And Now for Some Exciting "Nancy" News |
 |
On June 14, RBWN (Rockland Business Women's
Network) is holding their
annual Awards & Scholarship Dinner.
I will be receiving the
RBWN Service Award -- "her tireless
dedication and expert writing and
business communications combined with her
superb contribution as Editor
of the RBWN Newsletter made her the only
candidate for this year's
Service to the organization award."
Wow! There is nothing
as wonderful as being recognized by your
peers! Thank you,
RBWN! (If you want to know more about
the dinner, visit
www.RBWN.org.)
And I was recently re-elected to the YWCA of
Bergen County's Board of
Directors for another three-year term,
joining the Executive Committee
as Board Secretary. This outstanding
organization, whose mission
is "empowering women and girls and
eliminating racism", runs the Bergen
County Rape Crisis Center, among other things.

May 15 is Freedom From Self-Improvement Day! |
|
Jennifer Louden, the Comfort Queen,
has made
a startling but wonderful
declaration, "We are each utterly and
completely okay in this moment,
utterly beautifully okay. . . So to celebrate
this message and spread
the word, I'm declaring May 15th Freedom From
Self-Improvement Day. . .
Because it's time to challenge the belief
that if we 'could only'
change our partner, our thigh size, our job
or if we could only
meditate more deeply or express ourselves
more creatively then - and
only then - we'd finally grasp that gold ring
called 'Happiness' or
'Peace' or 'Enlightenment'.
Because there is so much celebrating that
needs to be done, Jennifer
has actually stretched this into an entire
week -- Monday, May 14th
to Friday, May 18. To learn more,
read Jennifer's
Declaration of Independence, and find some
goodies, go to Freedom
From
Self-Improvement Day
(www.freedomfromselfimprovement.com).
And enjoy being just who you are!

before us and what lies beyond are tiny
compared to what lies within us." Henry
David Thoreau
