Omaha, NE (July 20, 2012) - Omaha Children's Museum is hosting Superhero Saturday on July 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All are welcome to dress up in costume, but they are not required for admission.
Each area of the children's museum will feature a Superhero-themed activity. Children can create their own superhero identity in the Creative Arts Center, complete with capes, masks and face paint throughout the day. Items made can be taken home for future Superhero play.
"Children are fascinated with superheroes and these characters offer great opportunity for children to use their imaginations," said Lindy Hoyer, Omaha Children's Museum executive director. "Superhero Saturday gives guests a chance to participate in activities that will bring superheroes to life in a fun and memorable way." Superhero Bingo will be offered in the museum's Imagination Playground at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Live Superhero Science Shows will be presented in the Science Center at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. Guests can also make superhero headbands in the Wizard of Oz Exhibit (upstairs traveling gallery) at 10:40 a.m. and 1:45 p.m. The KETV Weather Team, a local partner on the Wizard of Oz exhibit, will also have a meet and greet at the museum inside the Wizard of Oz tornado area from 10 a.m.-Noon.
