FREE ePrescribe HELP
  • Do you think you have until January 2012 to start ePrescribing before it affects your Medicare payments?
  • Do you think that if you're participating in the EHR incentive program you won't have to worry about the E-Prescribing Incentive Program?

Think again!!!

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid have been incentivizing providers to use electronic prescribing for the last three years. However, as of June 30th, 2011 they will be penalizing providers who don't e-prescribe.

Providers who bill Medicare and don't submit electronic prescriptions before June 30th will be penalized 1% of their Medicare reimbursements in 2012. If you don't bill Medicare this penalty does not apply to you.

Here's a step-by-step list of how to avoid eRx penalties in 2011.

To qualify for the CMS eRx program and avoid penalties:

  1. Activate eprescribing from within Allscripts MyWay or register at https://erxnowregistration.allscripts.com/ for Allscripts FREE ePrescribe™
  2. Send electronic scripts straight from your EHR
  3. File Medicare claims with the G-code G8553 for 10 encounters where at least one prescription was transmitted electronically by June 30th, 2011
