As an educational institution, LETU is planning some special activities to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11.  Students this fall were as young as 6 years old when the twin towers fell, the Pentagon was attacked and others died in a field in Pennsylvania. Our goal is to create memorable events to educate and brings us together, as well as to give honor to first responders for the work they do.

  • Friday, Sept. 9, 9/11  Memorial "We Remember" chapel with Corey Ross, Belcher Center, 10:50 a.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 10, Longview Blitz to assist first responders and veterans at locations around town, 8 a.m. - noon.

Intramurals Begin This Week!
With a new director and an online registration and scheduling system, the perennial favorite of LETU students should prove to be the best year yet.  Be sure to get your teams signed up by the deadline and stay up-to-date on the new Intramural Website.

Student Center Focus Groups
As mentioned in the Student Government Chapel, planning has been underway on a new Student Center.  The need for a space for students to call their own--to study, to hang out, to build community--is an important reality for Dr. Lunsford and the President's Cabinet.  Enough plans were developed to enable University Development to begin raising funds.  In the meantime, there is a great need for student input.

There will be one large group meeting where anyone and everyone can attend to hear the plans and share ideas.  That will be Thursday, Sept 22 at 7 pm in MSC-3.

If you're interested in being interviewed in a focus group the week of Sept 19, please email studentaffairs@letu.edu and let us know.

Save Lives, Give Blood
Carter Bloodcare will be on campus, September 15, 2011 in MSC-3, to receive donations.
You can make an appointment by clicking here or you can just stop by.

Bandwidth Management System

Based on feedback from the student body, Information Technology and Student Affairs have collaborated to develop a bandwidth management system that provides students the best available bandwidth based on the usage of the community at that moment.

Returning students will recognize that the 24-hour regulative window has been eliminated.  While there may no longer be a daily "cap" on bandwidth, our network is still a utility that is finite and must be shared responsibly among the student community.

IT will continue to monitor general usage patterns and adapt the management system to meet individual and community needs.  For more detailed information, visit the LETU IT Knowledgebase.

Representing Christ in Filesharing

Your help in representing yourself, LeTourneau University, and the cause of Christ is very important to me. It is easy to rationalize away our integrity as we consider file sharing. Our team counts it a privilege to provide technology services for your use in your academic pursuit here at LeTourneau University. Along with this provision of services comes responsibility to use what is provided in accordance with applicable Federal and State laws.
