United Way of Central Iowa is providing $47,000 to the Polk County Housing Trust Fund as part of its strategic commitment for connecting low-income working families and individuals with transitional and supportive housing. PCHTF, whose role is to provide comprehensive planning, advocacy and funding for safe, stable and affordable housing, focuses on increasing and preserving inventory of affordable units in the County.
"The focus, planning and leadership provided by PCHTF is essential to creating a future where our community is able to thrive because of its commitment to providing affordable housing," said Jane Fogg, Director of Financial Stability at United Way of Central Iowa. "We know that any issue, no matter how large or daunting it appears, becomes more manageable with leadership, alignment of resources and a focus on collective impact."
"This financial investment is a tangible indication of United Way's support for the Trust Fund's focus on developing and helping implement a strategic community wide plan, said Eric Burmeister, Executive Director of PCHTF. "The need for more affordable inventory is growing on many fronts and it will take our collective and coordinated efforts to ensure residents have access to safe, stable and affordable housing."
