Community Bus Tours
The PCHTF has been successful in sponsoring community bus tours focusing on affordable housing issues in the Greater Des Moines area. We will now be sponsoring these tours three times each year. Each tour will focus on a specific housing issue or need. These tours help community leaders understand the challenges and potential solutions in providing affordable housing. The next tour is scheduled for Friday morning October 21st at 9 am. The focus will be affordable rental housing. You can register by calling the office or sending an e mail to cduncan@pchtf.org.
The Block Was Rocked
Be sure to take a look at our Rock the Block photo album on the Polk County Housing Trust Fund Facebook Page.
The local media was very generous in its coverage of the event. See the Register's photo gallery here.
Spend some time browsing the project tabloid here.

Congratulations to Our Provider Partners
Every funding organization wants to be sure that its dollars are used to meet its mission in the community and to maximize the results. The PCHTF is no different. Each year, when providers apply for new Operating and Supportive Service dollars they are required to list the provider agency's goals for the coming twelve months and the method by which success will be measured.

Affordable Housing - What's Ahead?
The landscape of affordable housing is in the final stages of a change that has been occurring for the past three years. It is being driven by a change in Federal Policy that some have labeled "Housing First." The foundation of this new model is the belief that providing permanent, stable housing as soon as possible in a client's housing crisis produces better (and cheaper) outcomes.

Larry Goodell has the Floor
Each month a PCHTF Board Member will share their commitment to Affordable Housing.
Knowing the industry of housing on paper is far different than experiencing it through our community's neighborhoods.
