Welcome to Whiskey Toronto!

We're a locally focused eMonthly that supports the habits of whiskey connoisseurs and fans alike.

sipping with Glencairn glass

Our objective is to help you better understand the world of whiskey, let you know which local pubs have noteworthy collections, give you a heads-up for new releases at the LCBO and even make a few suggestions on new ways to drink the stuff.  In short, we aim to be your "Whiskey Tour Guides", so with that in mind, on your left you'll see what is in store for you in this edition.

Please feel free to use the "Forward to a Friend" button to send any whiskey admirers you know their own edition of Whiskey Toronto.

Cheers and enjoy!

The Challenge of Oxidation

An exciting aspect of being a whiskey enthusiast is the sampling of a number of different whiskeys at the same time.  This often results in a number of open bottles being stored for varying lengths of time.

Like with wine, the storage of opened bottles opens the door to a less than desirable chemical process to occur called oxidation.

Whiskey Trivia

  • If Scotland is the largest producer of single malt whiskey, who is the second largest?
  • How many barrels does Woodford Reserve make from each American White Oak tree?
  • With a nickname like "Rye", Canadian whisky must be full of rye spirit right?
  • Johnnie Walker Red Label is the most popular bourbon in the world, right?
  • Whiskey gets all of it's colour from the charcoal on the inside of whiskey barrels, that's why they char them.  True or false?
