Congratulations to Prasanthi Govindarajan who has been awarded a 2-year AHA grant to study Comparative Evaluation of Stroke Trials Tools for Emergency Medical Dispatch: A prospective Cohort Study. Hers was one of only 4 awarded out of 22 applications this cycle in the Western region. Nice work, Prasha!
Congratulations to former UCSF/SFSU Research Intern Martin Rofael, who will attend the University of Washington School of Medicine this August. In a letter to Robert Rodriguez, Martin wrote: "I loved my experiences in SFGH and they have been monumental in guiding my career. "

| Announcements | Teri Reynolds will describe training protocol and the utilization of ultrasound during follow up, as well as her ultrasound research in Tanzania, during a talk entitled "Feasibility and Diagnostic Impact of Bedside Ultrasound Training in An Urban Public Emergency Department in Dar es Salaam" on June 1 from 4-5 PM at Parnassus, N-225. In 2010:, the Moffitt ED's average "Door to ECG time" was 3 minutes (our goal is <10 minutes), and the average "Door to Balloon time" was 64 minutes (our goal is < 90 minutes). So far in 2011, the average "Door to Balloon time" is 65 minutes!  | |

Michelle Lin led the highlighted hands-on workshop at the 2011 UCSF Alumni Conference: "Medicine in the 21st Century: Systems, Technology and the Human Touch" on the topic of "Bedside Ultrasonography: The 21st Century Stethoscope". Workshop instructors included: Dr. Manish Asaravala, Dr. Adrian Flores, Dr. Patrick Lenaghan, Dr. Jake Miss, and Dr. Jenny Wilson. Jeffrey Tabas and Martine Sargent chaired High Risk Emergency Medicine May 25-27, at the Westin on 3rd and Market. Prasanthi Govindarajan will serve as a panel member for a discussion on career development awards during the grant writing workshop at the SAEM conference on June 1, 2011. She has also I been invited to speak (along with two other speakers) at the didactic session on Comparative Effectiveness Research on June 3. Dr. Viraj Lakdawala is the new Associate Physician Diplomate - MSP (40% variable time) appointment who will begin working at SFGH Emergency Department beginning July 1. Dr. Lakdawala attended St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, W.I. and received his MD degree in 2007. Dr. Lakdawala is currently finishing his Emergency Medicine Residency at Lincoln Memorial and Mental Health Center in Bronx, NY and is expected to complete in June 2011. Dr. Derrick Lung is another MSP physician who will also begin working at SFGH on July 1. Dr. Lung attended University of Toledo School of Medicine and received his MD degree in 2005.He completed preliminary Internal Medicine internship at George Washington University in 2005 and Emergency Medicine Residency Program there in 2009. He is finishing his Medical Toxicology Fellowship at UCS and expected to complete in June of 2011. Dr. Lung has a valid CA Medical license #A107783 and is board certified with the American Board of Emergency Medicine since 2010. |

Congratulations to Margaret Salmon, whose international work was chosen to be funded by the Mt. Zion Health fund from UCSF Global Health Sciences.
Congratulations to George Hunihan (UCSF MS1) and Dr. David Duong for receiving the SAEM Emergency Medicine Interest Group grant. The $500 grant will be used for Disaster Conferences organized by EMIG. Dr. Duong is the faculty co-applicant on the grant.
Congratulations to Dina Wallin who was selected for the 2011 SFGH Krevans Award for Clinical Excellence.
