 Number One in Natural Resources, Again!
Community College Week has once again named Hocking College the top Natural Resources and Conservation Associate Degree producer in the country.
According to data collected by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) through the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data Set (IPEDS) completion survey, Hocking College granted 191 Associate Degrees in Natural Resources in 2010-11, an increase of 40 percent from 2009-10. As a basis for comparison, the college in the number two spot granted only 96. Hocking was also named to the 26 spot in granting Agriculture, Agriculture Operatio ns and Related Sciences degrees. |

Cheer on the Bobcats at "Nelsonville Day"
Express your ongoing support for the Ohio University Bobcats and their exciting football season by attending Nelsonville Day on Wednesday, November 7 at 8 p.m. against Bowling Green State University.  Volunteer for the First Annual Hocking College Homecoming
We're looking for several volunteers to help with set-up, day of the event, and clean up for the First Annual Hocking College Homecoming on October 6, from 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Libby Villavicencio at ext. 6088. Rural Action Hosts Waste to Wealth Summit
The Appalachia Ohio Zero Waste Initiative, part of Rural Action, will bring together Appalachian communities in Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia on September 13 and 14 at the OU Inn in Athens. The two-day summit will examine how to build and sustain rural wealth by increasing resource recovery and supporting the development of recycling-based businesses.
Attendees will learn about exemplary rural recycling programs, innovative recycling-based businesses, the zero waste economy, rural solid waste policy, and the Wealth Creation Model. The summit will be an opportunity to network with others who are passionate about waste diversion and want to build wealth in rural communities.
