Summer Experience Camp Kicks-Off with Facebook Contest
Hocking College will once again host the Summer Experience Camp on campus from June 25 - 29, 2012.

Hocking College Summer Experience Camp provides students 13 - 18 years old with a first-hand opportunity to participate in their future careers.  Campers select their program of choice and receive instruction from Hocking College faculty and staff each day, while living on campus in a residence hall throughout the week.

Campers will choose from the following program options:
  • Culinary/Hospitality Camp: The culinary camp experience provides students with a taste of hospitality, through hands-on training in Hocking College kitchens with faculty chefs.
  • Police, Fire and Emergency Services Camp:  Campers will examine a crime scene; learn fingerprinting techniques, CPR and basic first aid; feel what it's like to breathe like a firefighter; and much more with Hocking College skilled faculty.
  • Rock n' Roll Camp: Campers will write and record original compositions individually and in groups. They will learn and perfect the basic fundamentals of song writing and composition including concept, structure, lyric, harmony and rhythm.
  • Archaeology Camp: Camp participants work on a real excavation and help piece together the story of early settlers; includes behind the scenes tour of the Hocking College Archaeological Laboratory and Curation facility.
Summer Experience Camp runs from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily, with a cost of $300 for the week for residential attendees and $200 for the day camp option.  Visit www.hocking.edu/summercamp for more information.

The Summer Experience Camp Facebook page is also hosting a contest to win a free week of residential camp.  To enter, teens should answer the question, "Why I want to attend the Hocking College Summer Experience Camp" and post their answer to the Facebook page. The deadline to enter is May 25, 2012.

With approximately 6,000 additional people on campus last weekend for the Nelsonville Music Festival, our own campus police, maintenance and grounds staff deserve kudos for their excellent work before, during and after the Festival.  The assistance of the entire Hocking College community is essential to the success of such a huge undertaking.
