Faculty Published During National Poetry Month Deni Naffziger, Communications Faculty, recently published the poem entitled, "Changeable," on the website YARN during a National Poetry Month project.
YARN is an award-winning independent online literary journal dedicated to young adult (YA) literature. YARN was founded in 2010 to showcase a diversity of fresh voices in YA. In April, YARN invited writers to start a poetry mail chain, with the final goal of reaching across the country to all 50 states. These poets then invited a poet from another state to write a poem in response to, or inspired by, the original poem. Deni's poem was part of this literary project.
Visit the YARN website for more information, and to read "Changeable."

 | 2011 President's List Award Winners |
President's List Applications Available
Students with a 3.5 or higher accumulative grade point average and a minimum of 30 Hocking College credit hours have received an invitation to apply for consideration for the President's List. Students are selected for the President's List by demonstrating outstanding leadership and service, and maintaining the highest academic standards.
Faculty and staff endorsements are critical in the selection process. Endorsements with specific information, completed by staff that work closely with a student and have first-hand knowledge of leadership skills and service activities, are a powerful point of consideration in the process. If you cannot provide specific information on leadership and service, please refer the student to another staff member for endorsement.
Students are ineligible for consideration if endorsement forms are not part of their portfolios at the time of review. This year's endorsements are due May 8, 2012. Additionally, should you know of a worthy candidate who has not been invited to apply, please ask them to stop in JL 154 to pick up the necessary paperwork. Applications will also be made available at the Perry Campus.
We thank you in advance for providing the supporting documentation necessary to assist us in making these selections. Your time in this process is very much appreciated.

Broadcast Students "Dance with the Stars"
The Broadcast Production and Engineering students recently provided video support for the third annual Dancing With The Athens Stars fundraiser for the American Red Cross. Hocking students produced 12 unique video packages, one for each of the 12 dancers, and provided multi-camera video coverage of the live event that was streamed live over the Internet and will be edited into a DVD.
Students also edited music for each dance routine, prepared a PowerPoint presentation for pre-show display and a humorous outtake video for the intermission. Saturday's event grossed over $70,000 for the Athens County Chapter of the American Red Cross. This has been the most successful Red Cross Fundraiser to date and is being heralded as the single largest fundraiser in the history of Athens County.
Great job to Coordinating Instructor Harry Tompkins, and his Broadcast Production students!
