Dr. Ron Erickson, President

"...it is so important to go to every class."
Lauren Dick, Success Coach

"...your behavior off-campus can affect your college career."
Dr.Sally Lozada, Dean of Student Affairs

"...we have a judicial amnesty policy for drug and alcohol reporting."
George Petrovay, Director of Student Rights, Responsibilities, & Judicial Affairs

"...if you drop out of college for a quarter, you have to pay a readmit fee."
Diane Wolf, Admissions Processing

"Drug and alcohol counseling services will be available in JL 241."
Roger Buck, Director of Counseling

"...you have to recomplete the FAFSA - Jan 3rd.
Overage checks will be mailed or deposited starting winter quarter."
Roger Springer, Director of Financial Aid

"...it is so important to follow Satisfactory Academic Performance (SAP)  guidelines so you don't lose Financial Aid after two quarters."
Lisa Steffenson, Director of Campus Housing

"...the dining services menu is available online. Just go to hocking.edu and search "menu."
Sonja-Hill Puckett, Director of Dining Services

Beijing Paralympics Photo Exhibit Featured

Check out the new photographic art in the Student Center Hall of Nations lobby. Images from the Beijing Paralympics were added over break. These photographs tie together various themes that the Student Center represents. Inspirational people from around the world are depicted doing inspirational things. The Student Center is an energetic and busy place where people are encouraged to get active and increase their level of cross-cultural awareness. These images embody those themes. We hope to obtain more pictures from the London Paralympics to add to our gallery later this year.

If you could change one thing about Hocking College, what would it be?

Survey Results:
  • The food, we definitely need better nutritional foods, fresh fruits, vegetables, fruit juices, not pop or soda as you call it here. We as students I feel would do a lot better both physically, and mentally, and with better coffees for us older people, The school makes plenty of money to give us at least "good coffee."
  • The way they do their financial aid needs changed like really bad. They need people that will help you the right way.
  • More food options, a grab and go for DVD and PSS.
  • Price of food should be more competitive with off-campus choices, but why is it cheaper to buy tea from a machine than in the cafeteria?
  • Paying for parking.
  • To not have giant breaks between my classes. Like winter quarter I have one class then a four hour break and another class. Would prefer it to be together.
  • The administration.
  • The salary scale for faculty. Instructors are underpaid--compare to other schools.
  • More things to do.
  • The way the computers in labs/classrooms are managed and maintained.
  • Offer more classes on the Perry Campus. Mainly photography.
  • THE FOOD!!!!!
  • The Service in JL
Where There's a Will, There's An "A"
  • Do you keep getting low grades on papers? Ask the instructor for some examples of "A" grade papers. If you read enough "A" grade papers, maybe you could start writing them.
  • Ask permission from your instructor to sit up front and record the lecture
  • Give yourself an incentive of a Spring Break treat if you attend every class this quarter.
