What Are You Doing for the Holidays?

Tattoos

In response to a request in Student Centered, a number of people stopped by to talk about tattoos. They provided various pieces of advice on the subject.

Important Reminders About Tattoos:

  • Remember - a tattoo will probably be with you for the rest of your life. Give the decision plenty of thought before you get one.
  • You may want to consider a henna or airbrush tattoo first to see if you like the design.  You may want to hang a picture of the design on your wall and get used to it for a while.
  • This is art that lasts a lifetime. Get it done professionally, not by a friend. Save up and get the one you really want or get it done in parts but don't settle for the wrong tattoo just to save money.
  • The most painful places to get a tattoo are where the skin is thin, such as the tops of the feet, wrist and ribs.
  • See the artist's portfolio before getting work done.
  • Be sure that new needles are used.
  • Tattoos below the wrist or above the collar could affect your chances of getting a job. Highly visible tattoos are not popular with employers.
  • Tattoos can be removed but the process is costly and painful.

Where There's a Will, There's An "A"

Exam Tips:
  • All-nighters do not work!  Study in the evening and morning but not all night.
  • Have a good night's sleep and a meal before your exam.
  • Take a look through the questions before you begin and put your subconscious to work.  Then, answer your best question first.

December is AIDS Awareness Month

In the United States:
  • It is estimated that about one million people in the US are living with HIV.
  • More than half a million people have died after developing AIDS.
  • The best ways to protect yourself against infection are to use a latex condom when having sex and not to share needles.
