NACDEP Members:

Greetings and welcome to the June 2012 edition of the NACDEP Newsletter.   We have some news from Park City to deliver, including a report on Conference Scholarships and an update from the Southern Region.  We also have a note from President-Elect Michael Darger about next year's Galaxy IV Conference in Pittsburgh.  And be sure to check out the travel seminar to Guatemala being offered by Iowa State.

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Best. Conference. Ever. This is what our association strives for every year. I hope we were able to accomplish that in Park City. From the feedback that we have received, it appears that we came close! From the spectacular celestial sideshow to warm greetings from Utah State's Vice-President for Extension and Agriculture Noelle Cockett and an informative keynote from Utah State President Stan Albrecht, Sunday definitely started us off on the right foot (not to mention some excellent pre-conference workshops and a well-attended poster session).

A Note From President-Elect Michael Darger
Plan to Attend the NACDEP Conference at Galaxy

September 16 - 20, 2013

Now that the terrific Park City event has wrapped up, make plans to attend the next NACDEP conference, which will be part of the Galaxy IV Conference.  Not only will you get a chance to enjoy several NACDEP-only sessions, you also can participate in other events from across the six Extension organizations that co-host this event.  Although this is a Joint Council of Extension Professionals (JCEP) event, it is first and foremost our NACDEP gathering for 2013.  Hold the dates of September 16 - 20, 2013 for an exciting event in Pittsburgh, PA.  Watch the NACDEP news and website for more details in the near future.

REGION SPOTLIGHT
Southern Region
Representative: Stacey McCullough

Thirty-seven NACDEP members from the southern region participated at our annual meeting at the NACDEP conference this year. After a round of introductions, members discussed regional priorities (including what NACDEP is doing right, how NACDEP could be better, and expectations for our regional representative) and potential collaborative opportunities with the Community Development Society (CDS). All members will have the opportunity to weigh in on these issues over the next few weeks via an online survey.

Member Services Report Dollar Auction

NACDEP Members Raise $1,508 for Conference Scholarships

The NACDEP member services committee had a busy conference in Park City this year. In addition to hosting an orientation breakfast for new members, the committee coordinated two fund raising activities for scholarships. We raised $908 through our fun-filled and highly competitive dollar auction. An additional $600 was raised through our first-ever "buy-a-square" contest. The committee would like to thank everyone who contributed to this year's fund raiser by contributing auction items, bidding at the auction, and buying a square. Together, we raised a grand total of $1,508 to help send NACDEP members to next year's NACDEP Conference at Galaxy.

If you signed up to join the member services committee at this year's conference, you will be contacted soon to participate in our next teleconference meeting. If you couldn't make the conference this year and would like to join our team, please contact Stacey McCullough (smccullough@uaex.edu) today.
