Giving thanks never gets old.

April 30, 2012

Sometimes it's nice to just say "thank you" and share a little gratitude and appreciation. So many people are involved in the happenings at Third Level, whether it's  fundraisers, training sessions, or community outreach. Thank you to everyone that has helped in any way, and specifically to the following:

* We would like to thank Nancy Freund, owner of Little Bohemia, for hosting a poker run on April 23 to raise funds for Third Level's Transitional Living Program. A huge thank you to Kohl's volunteers for distributing flyers to advertise the event and for volunteering that evening to help the event run smoothly.  Money was raised through entry fees, raffle and 25% of Little Bohemia's sales for the evening. Thank you also to everyone who came in support of this event. A huge thank you also to DJ Charlie Lakritz. The money raised will go to transitional living apartments where youth coming out of foster care or homelessness can live while they learn skills to live independently.

* Everyone involved in planning and hosting the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) last week. Elizabeth reported that the training went very well and of the 30 spots open, 26 people attended, that group included school counselors, social work students, educators and youth workers from the Grand Traverse Band, a behavioral health nurse from Munson, and Third Level staff and volunteers. Third Level is committed to providing its staff, volunteers, and interns with regular trainings to ensure the best possible service.

The ASIST Training is offered twice a year (Spring and Fall). For more information, contact Elizabeth Black: eblack@thirdlevel.org, 231.922.4800.

* Thank you to all of our volunteers and interns. Your work is truly appreciated.

* Thank you to NMC Student Life for teaming with us to welcome The Vagina Monologues to our community. Hours of hard work and rehearsals went into making this a reality, don't miss this great show! Tonight at 7pm at NMC's Milliken Auditorium. Information and tickets: nmc.edu/vday.

And finally, thank you to all of you for your continued support of our endeavors in serving the community.
