Why You Need Online Backup
Did you know know these important facts?
  • Up to 13% of hard drives fail every year.
  • 50% of computer users have lost or accidentally deleted files from their primary computer.
  • Approximately 2 million laptops are stolen every year, and only 2% are ever recovered.
Plain and simple: You cannot afford to not backup your files. How do you most effectively accomplish this? Many home and small businesses will copy files to a removable USB hard drive and assume that the data is safe. This is better than nothing but what happens if that hard drive dies? What happens if a natural disaster hit?

With that in mind, did you know these equally important facts?
  • 30% of all businesses that have a major fire go out of business within a year. 70% fail within five years. (Home Office Computing Magazine)
  • 60% of companies that lose their data will shut down within 6 months of the disaster.
  • Companies that aren't able to resume operations within ten days (of a disaster hit) are not likely to survive. (Strategic Research Institute)
  • Simple drive recovery can cost upwards of $7,500 and success is not guaranteed.

This is why online backup is so essential for protecting your business. It's important for your home files as well! You have to be proactive and protect your data before it's too late.

TerraEdge is proud to announce a new partnership with Carbonite, a world leader in online backup. Carbonite is different from other online backup providers that charge per machine and per gigabyte storage fees. Carbonite's plans are flat rate so you know what your cost is going to be. Plans start at just $59 per year!

Carbonite is also simple. Install the program and it will automatically detect commonly backed up files and immediately start backing up your data. Recovering files is as simple as browsing a directory on your computer. It really couldn't be any easier!

Don't wait to get started! If you need online backup for your home or for your office, please contact us today! We can recommend an appropriate plan and offer setup services if you're uncomfortable installing the software yourself. We want to help you protect your files before trouble strikes!

How to Grow Your E-mail Marketing List
The average person is buried in a mound of e-mail messages. Think about the last time you checked your e-mail. How many messages were just marketing and sales pitches? Did you read them? How many did you unsubscribe from immediately? This e-mail reality makes it difficult to get people to share their e-mail address. People don't mind commercial e-mail but they want it to add value to their lives or they aren't going to sign up.

Here are a few useful tips:
  • If you operate a store front, print out a copy of your latest newsletter. Place it in a nice frame and put a sign-up sheet out in a visible area. People are naturally defensive about sharing their e-mail address. Prove to them that you provide valuable content and they will open up.
  • Always include a minimum of one useful article. Give information away! You're an expert in your area, prove it to people! Think about it. When you give something of value away, the reader is more likely to forward your message to friends and colleagues. This can result in new subscribers.
  • Offer exclusive discounts and rewards to subscribers for signing up. A little motivation goes a long way. It might cost you a 15% discount on the next purchase to get someone to sign up but then you have them! Provide useful content and they will stick around. It doesn't even have to cost anything, provide some exclusive piece of useful information that you send out to new subscribers as a thank you for joining.
  • Make it easy to sign-up! Use an e-mail marketing service that includes social media components and automates list management. A sign-up link should be on your web site. It should be on your Facebook page. New readers should be able to sign-up for your newsletter from a copy forwarded by a friend. People will not hunt you down to give you their e-mail address.

Once you have people signed up, keep them as subscribers by providing valuable content on a consistent basis. There is nothing wrong with pitching a product or service but that cannot be all you do in an e-mail marketing message or you will lose people. Always keep in mind that e-mail marketing is less about selling and more about relationship building. The sales come by establishing yourself as an expert. You accomplish this by providing helpful information for free and without any catches!

Start 2012 off by addressing one project that helps you grow your business. Implement a backup system so your company is protected. Consider ways to use technology to develop long-lasting relationships with clients through e-mail and Internet marketing. Enhance your web site so it provides a more dynamic and useful experience. We're here to help. TerraEdge always provides a free consultation, so contact us today! Together, we will make 2012 your company's most successful year yet!

Sincerely,
