Play! Play! Play!

Don't let the holiday's go by and forget to play bridge. You may think this is a silly tip but I can give you some practical and some mentally healthy reasons to play.

Practical. The more you play, the more hands you will see and the better bridge player you will become. Classes are necessary. Studying is great. Playing is where you put it all together and APPLY the knowledge and techniques you have learned.

Mental Health. For many people the holidays can be a stressful time of the year. Family is in town. Kids are at home. Money is flowing like water. Bridge is a couple of hours where you have to concentrate on something else. Everything else washes away and it's just the cards and the hands and the problems we can solve. Don't deny yourself the opportunity to take a few hours here or there to give yourself a break from the hustle and bustle and enjoy the game of bridge.

What's Patty been working on?

Kevin and I are getting ready to head out to Spartanburg SC for the District 7 North American Open Pairs Final and then on to Seattle for the North American Bridge Championships.  Tate is not very happy about being left behind, he always thinks he's supposed to go with us every time we leave the house.

I know all of ya'll are getting ready for the holidays with friends and family. Please join me

Christmas Open House

This is a party from me to some of my favorite people, my present and past students. Since I don't have all the email addresses from some of my past students please help me spread the word by forwarding this email to anyone you know of who has taken bridge with me.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone there...old friends and new!

Tate and Family

I was working on some holiday gift ideas for my family and Tate quickly told me that BONES make great presents. He says they are enjoyed a long time, keep forever and never go out of style.  Here are some other gift ideas you might consider for your friends.

I am going to hold a 'Learn Bridge in A Day?' seminar on Friday, December 30th at the Family Life Center from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Please pass the word along to anyone you know of who wants to learn bridge. This might also be a great gift idea for your college students that are home for winter break or for family you've been trying to get interested in learning.  If you'd like to give this as a gift, I will have gift certificates with me on December 12th or can mail one to your home.

If you are looking for a gift for a friend that already plays bridge I have ordered some extra bidding boxes and duplicate boards and will have those with me for purchase at the party on December 12th.

I'm also finalizing the details on a bridge retreat in Callaway Gardens January 30th thru February 2nd.  A good friend and teacher, Sam Marks, and I will be holding two full days of workshops and sanctioned duplicate games at night (as well as social bridge opportunities).  A full schedule of classes and the details will be available by December 12th.

As you can see...busy busy busy!

My website contains the schedule  for all of my open classes at the Family Life Center (Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church).  My Winter classes will be scheduled Monday mornings for advancing beginners, Tuesday Nights for new players and Wednesday afternoons for intermediate/advanced players.  I will also be running an Open Play on Tuesdays from Noon til 2:00.  A full class schedule will be up before Christmas.

Gift Certificates are available for all of my classes, workshops, seminars and workbooks.

The Georgia Youth Open Pairs State Championship was held at the Roswell tournament on November 12th.  Nine tables of youngsters competed with the championship being won by Ricoh Das of Alpharetta and John Albanese of Macon.

The swiss team state championship will be in early March and the Georgia School Championship will be held in April.

If your children are not playing bridge.....get them started.  It's a great game they can play for a lifetime.

Another great gift idea is the AJB laminated 'cheat sheets' for $5.00 with 100% of  the profits going to junior bridge.
