Re: Month of April recap of CoSIDA Board of Directors and divisional leadership updates and initiatives
April was a busy month for the leadership within CoSIDA and we hope this regular letter from the Board and divisional leadership groups will update you on numerous matters. If you have not made your plans to come to St. Louis for the annual convention we encourage you to do so quickly by reviewing the 2012 Convention 2012 webpage and reserving your hotel room (MAY 31 deadline) and registering for the convention (JUNE 1 deadline). The convention site will also provide an updated schedule and programming. Please make plans soon to join colleagues for what promises to be a wonderful professional continuing education gathering.

Continuing Education Sessions
· CoSIDA's continuing education sessions continue in May and June, with the next session on Thursday, May 3 entitled "Talking NCAA Statistics" with Jim Wright from NCAA Statistics and Media Services and other staff members. Sessions with NCAA Division Vice Presidents and the NAIA President also are scheduled for May and a June session on best use of your summertime hours. See more information HERE.
· Third Vice President Eric McDowell (Union- N.Y.) coordinates our continuing education initiatives this year. If you have ideas or want to coordinate a session, please contact him at mcdowele@union.edu. |
2012 St. Louis Convention (June 23-26)
· The 2012 Convention takes place Saturday through Tuesday, June 23-26 at the Renaissance Grand Hotel in St. Louis (a Marriott property). Hotel room reservations and Convention registration are open. CoSIDA Resource Library launching · READ HERE about the upcoming launch of the CoSIDA.com Reference and Resource Library May 4. Members will be notified via email when the Library is going live.

National Organization Initiatives · READ HERE about April work by the NAIA-SIDA group at the NAIA annual April Convention, by CoSIDA's NCAA Championships/Alliances Advisory Board, and the CoSIDA Corner in NACDA's Athletic Administration Magazine.

Division-Specific News and Initiatives
· SEE actions taken at the divisional levels in April - and future work scheduled - with NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA representatives. This includes calls by the University Division Management Advisory Committee (UDMAC), College Division Management Advisory Committee (CDMAC), Football Championship Subdivision group and I-AAA UDMAC.

Capital One Academic All-America® Program  · Spring sports nominations and voting are underway (baseball, softball, at-large sports, track and field/cross country). See more information on the master schedule, deadlines, team announcements, committee members HERE.
We remind everyone that you must be a 2011-12 member of CoSIDA to nominate your deserving student-athletes and vote in the program.

Current CoSIDA Contests, Scholarship/Grant Program Nominations
Currently, CoSIDA is accepting final nominations for the CoSIDA Scholarships and Grant program in the Fred Nuesch/Dave Wohlhueter Undergraduate Scholarship program (deadline is May 4). There also is the ongoing annual Publications Contest (varying deadlines).

Research/Survey Based News
· Find the latest information on three surveys/research projects involving CoSIDA members and CoSIDA input HERE. First, see the results from the CoSIDA crisis communications survey, conducted by the New Media/Technology Committee. Research results are pending from Clay Stoldt, Chair of the Wichita State Sport Management program and Joe Moore, Central Missouri professor in the Department of Communications and a former SID, who also conducted recent surveys with the CoSIDA membership. |
