Thank you for taking the time to read this month's e-newsletter. We hope you made it through the annual "March Madness" and will now enjoy the wonderful spring sports season. We encourage you to read through this newsletter and also review the Convention Central webpage where you can read up on St. Louis Convention activities and programming and make plans to join your colleagues for what promises to be a wonderful professional continuing education gathering.

Continuing Education Sessions
· CoSIDA's continuing education sessions resume in April and May, beginning with a Thursday, April 12 "Social Media Promotion and Opportunity" session presented by the University Division Management Advisory Committee. Sessions with NCAA Division Vice Presidents and the NAIA President also are scheduled. See more information HERE.
· Third Vice President Eric McDowell (Union- N.Y.) coordinates our continuing education initiatives this year. If you have ideas or want to coordinate a session, please contact him at mcdowele@union.edu. |
2012 St. Louis Convention (June 23-26)
· The 2012 Convention takes place Saturday through Tuesday, June 23-26 at the Renaissance Grand Hotel in St. Louis (a Marriott property). Hotel room reservations and Convention registration are open - see details, prices, deadlines HERE along with information on Convention programming, planning, social events and fund-raising efforts.

National Organization Initiatives

CoSIDA Resource Library launching

Current CoSIDA Contests, Scholarship/Grant Program Nominations
Currently, CoSIDA is accepting nominations for the CoSIDA Scholarships and Grant program (deadlines are April 6, April 13 and May 4 for the scholarships/grants). There also is the ongoing annual Publications Contest (varying deadlines). Please see the nomination guidelines and contest information HERE.

Capital One Academic All-America® Program 
· Spring sports nominations begin over the next two months, with baseball and softball Academic All-District nominations beginning on April 3 and running through April 17 (deadline is 6 p.m. Eastern). See more information HERE.
We remind everyone that you must be a 2011-12 member of CoSIDA to nominate your deserving student-athletes and vote in the program.

Research/Survey Based News
· Click HERE to see the latest information on three surveys/research projects involving CoSIDA members and CoSIDA input. First, see the results from the CoSIDA crisis communications survey, conducted by the New Media/Technology Committee. Research results are pending from Clay Stoldt, Chair of the Wichita State Sport Management program and Joe Moore, Central Missouri professor in the Department of Communications and a former SID, who also conducted recent surveys with the CoSIDA membership. |
